You dont need to swap the whole column. The “big spline” is just a piece that is pressed on. Can be pulled with a bearing puller. Makes sense to fix the wipers though

You can pull off the gear wheel from the steering column or buy the adapter 191419514A, so you don't have to swap the whole steering column. In Germany it is like 24 euro on eBay

You need to adjust the part on the hood to get it close better. A wrench size 13 and flathead screwdriver and adjust it out a bit.

Pull your grill back out loosen your hood latch an get it shutting smoothly then sneak your hand up there and snug up the bolts .

They make an adapter for the small spline to large spline steering hub. Did it on my t4 for a audi tt rs wheel

Spray plenty of lube on the slam panel latch, they get seized up and there’s a small return spring on them that fails sometimes Same as a mk1 they are notorious for it 😂 As for the steering wheel can you buy a conversion collar to let the later wheel fit the small spline column, it’s about $10 👍🏻 it simply taps on the smaller spline, 2 minute job

I'd leave the 7 slat grille even if its damaged, or send it to Joe to have it repaired... Looks so much better, not sure why... Other than that, coming along awesome, props! Also, don't need to swap the whole steering column, there are OEM adapters to convert small spline into big spline.
