Mine was dripping for a while, under the alternator . couldn’t figure out where it was coming from because the whole line was wet. had trouble while building the car especially for the turbo inlet pipe not fitting behind the high pressure line. I replaced all of the fittings from the power steering resivior to the rack…. Seemed to stop it. Today I went to get my car tuned at solo motorstports, And the good news is my car Made almost 400hp And the bad news is the Power steering line exploded on the dyno .

The last paragraph 😭Great power numbers! But I'm sorry to hear about your line. I guess it's time to upgrade? Obviously the OEM lines aren't bad, but I've also been very happy with the EAA lines. Zero issues since installation, and makes for a cleaner engine bay if that's part of your build.

I should keep better track of my time for questions like this! I've got an hour of video footage, so I'd say plan for an hour if you know what you're doing but are taking your time. Maybe less if you're comfortable/experienced, and maybe 2 if you're still new to working on cars.

Were all the washers the same size for both lines?

I believe one is 14x20 and the other is 16x22. I even went back through the old video footage I have to try and see and while I can't really tell, if you search for power steering parts they list two different size washers.

Washer for the banjo bolts is washer-hose- washer-banjo bolt? I have a leak…new hose. New bolts and washers. 😫

Yes, that's the correct order. Did you use copper or aluminum crush washers? I've heard people say that you should use aluminum crush washers on power steering lines, so that's a possibility. You could also try tightening it a little more to see if that fixes it. Maybe give it a 1/4 turn and see if it seals.

@@StevesGarage thank you for the reply…I do have aluminum washers. I’m afraid to crush the hose end if I go too tight. As soon as I turn the engine on the fluid gushes out.

@@Staybrown11 it's hard to diagnose over the Internet. Gushing out sounds like it's too loose or possibly defective? Did you clean the surface well before assembly so the washers have a clean surface to seal against?

@@StevesGarage yes I cleaned with brake cleaner before installing. I wonder if it’s the rack side that is crushed at the connector point or maybe it’s the the hose that is defective.

@@StevesGarage washer part number N0138487 is the correct washer size for the banjo bolt for the bottom of the power steering rack. Banjo bolt is N90809302. FML I was sent washers for oil drain plug!!!! Thanks for your time!!!

I’m very curious if same layout for vr6. I’d love to put EAA lines on, they only offer 1.8t.

I did a little digging and can't find out the differences between the system in the 1.8t vs the VR6, and I've never worked on or owned a VR6. I would reach out to them and ask. It's possible that it works since it's just braided line. It could just be some fittings that are difference between the two.

@@StevesGarage thank you for looking around. I also did some digging and they honestly look very similar almost exact with how they are ran. My only worry was the actual fittings to the pump and rack and pinion. Sent them an email, will let you know what they say.

@@adammcgwn No problem, sorry I couldn't find a definitive answer. I think I need to buy a VR wagon, you know, for science. Definitely comment back and let me know! I'm curious if they're compatible, or what the differences are.
