Did you scan your car and figure out what code you had first? 01217 - Side Airbag Igniter; Driver Side (N199) 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded - Intermittent - MIL ON I have this one and it doesn't seem to be the wiring under the seat. This TSB was already resolved by previous owner.

Yea I had scanned it first, I dont remember the exact code but what you described sounds very familiar. I knew it was the clockspring because the horn wouldn't make any noise. And once I replaced it, everything has worked fine since!

Thanks for tutorial! Question though... After I replaced clockspring and put everything back together, the yellow steering wheel appeared on the dashboard! I asked the seller and he said that this new unit has to be synchronized with car's internal circuit, but he didn't provide any details on how to do it. What do you think it might be?

Occasionally when I disconnect the battery and after I did this replacement the steering wheel light does come on. You should be able to clear it simply by turning the steering wheel all the way in both directions a couple of times.

Did your yellow steering wheel light stay on?

Yes, the airbag light does not clear itself like the cel codes do. You'll have to get the airbag light cleared after replacing the clockspring.

Okay i get that you have to clear the airbag light. But what about the yellow steering wheel light on the dash. Do you have you have to clear that aswell. Or does it go away by itself

@@ammaar7741 Oops sorry, I misunderstood. The steering wheel light can be turned off if you turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and then all the way to the right. Going lock to lock on the steering wheel should clear it.

Does the airbag light go out automatically or do you have to get the codes cleared at the dealer?

Airbag codes do not go away on their own. You dont have to go to the dealer, a shop can do it with VAG-COM.

I got it for a discount at one of my old jobs but the rack and the wood and supplies in total maybe cost me around $250
