Great video. I bought my GTI Mark 6 brand new in 2012 and it's sad now to see it getting old...

I have the same exact symptoms on my 2012 golf TDI and this summed it up extremely well. You are the man

Use a turkey baster to suck coolant out and store in clean container. Less mess. Is there a chance of air bubbles cause coolant vapor lock?
@PetesWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
Mmmmm a turkey baster wont pull coolant out of the whole system but just empty the reservoir.

would we have to put a new cap on, or would be able to use the old one?

Now I know you didn't watch the whole video! hehe. I did put a brand new cap on. see 3:08

Hi thanks for the video mate, can this at all cause pressure issues I have exactly same problem and same car, and wear in the same area? My car seems to be bubbling? Could this be the issue?
@PetesWorkshop5 ай бұрын
Bubbling coolant can be caused by a blown head gasket but if the bubbles are ‘starting’ in the tank it could be that the tank is leaking air. The tank and cap are cheap. Just replace them as a matter of preventative maintenance.

You had something about replacing a vacuum hose but I didn't see you replaced anything. What exactly are you referring to?
@ernestgalvan90372 жыл бұрын
He disconnected the vacuum hose to move it for better access, then REPLACED it (as in ‘put back in place’)..

@@ernestgalvan9037 thank you! I did the same thing and I'm totally fine now

Do you need to bleed the system or does it solve itself without bleeding any air?
@PetesWorkshopАй бұрын
It will self bleed. Normally you will need to top the level a couple of times. In the first few days.

Thanks for the info. I wonder if anyone knows what causes that “burn” mark on the tank. Such a odd and apparently common issue

Hello: You shouldn't have poured the bottom of the water from the container you removed into the new container. Did you think that was snow too? If you added clean pure water instead. It is harmful to use anything other than pure water. Hello from Turkey.
