You have really opened my eyes to the potential of this type of work. In my part of the country (east sussex), we only have one other guy specialising in fitting van dead locks. So, as so as I get all the gear together (some already have) I will start offering this service along side key cutting and vehicle remotes. Can't wait...

Honestly mate, what a trooper. - I could not do what you do (Fitting locks on other people's vans, and having the mental fortitude to make a KZbin video at the same time). - I get asked every week, or every other, if I fit locks to vans, and I always say no, sorry I don't. - Simply because I don't want to take on that responsibility of cutting into somebody else's vehicle's bodywork... For me it's just not worth the potential backlash if they're not happy or if something goes wrong. I couldn't charge enough for it to be worth my time and stress... - But then there's you, out in the rain, smashing it like it was nothing... Hats off fella, your customers must be glad they called you as you always seem to do such meticulous work... COME ON THE 1K 💪

Ah bless ya George, thanks buddy, that’s really nice of you to say 😊 To be honest once you’ve done a couple of vans they become pretty easy and I actually enjoy doing them now! Here’s a good tip. Re all the iron fillings whilst working on the panels, put some magnets on masking tape around the area of cutting, you’d be surprised how much they collect. Wiping down, use tack rag ( spray painters cloth) to pick up any stray filings)
@brighton_locksmith2 жыл бұрын
I’ll give that a go next time Michael 👍🏼 Thank you for the tip, and thank you for watching 🙏🏼😁

i mentioned a while back, the only lock we had for extra security back in the day for vehicles was the Yale M69 deadlock. it was very popular for ford capris, escorts etc...i have found one which you are welcome to if you like. I have sent Seth lots of obsolete locks, but i'm sure he wont mind me sending this one to you, if you like, so you can see what was classed as a security lock back in the day....

Such a great video mate..I watched the last one with similar special interest as I haven’t done any van locks yet, and may well start with my own soon!! I think I’m well enough equipped but wasn’t sure what You cut the panels out with? Didn’t You use a jigsaw in the last one? Wasn’t sure what to get… cheers for this
@brighton_locksmith2 жыл бұрын
Thanks buddy. No I’ve never used a jig saw and you’d struggle using one because of the tight spaces and uneven surfaces. You need an air compressor and use an air saw to cut out the openings bud 👍🏼

Very interesting van door lock you installed. They have two different ones that are very popular but use puck locks They are unsightly and very vulnerable to defeat. Europeans have far better design, craftsmanship and engineering than the USA In the fields we are more advanced in is due to e Europeans working in the USA. Many Europeans being in the USA since the founding fathers. We love our European brothers and sisters 🙏 Thank you for sharing this video. I'm going to forward it to my cousin who's a licensed locksmith. He may not be aware of this sleek secondary van lock.

Ah yes! You can still get the puck lock van locks here but they are not seen very often these days. And like you say, fairly easy to manipulate. Thanks again for watching 🙏🏼

Hi, I've been interested in training to become a locksmith for quite a few months now. I enjoy watching your videos to get an idea of what the job entails. Do you have a vid about how you got started? Can I ask who you trained with? I've been looking at training courses with Keytek, or MPL and a few others. They all seem to sell themselves pretty well on their websites, but is there anyone you would recommend? I'm quite interested, but a bit scared to take the plunge considering the cost of courses, tools etc. Cheers from Matt
