MK7 Golf R Steering Rack Retrofit (to Alltrack)

For those attempting this I used OBD11 to check Steering Assist Long coding and “Counter Steer Support” and “Lane Assistant” were active. My car doesn’t have Lane Assist (not sure what counter steer support does). I changed them to “Not Active”, first Lane Assistant, with no change. Then Counter Steer Support, still with no change. Drove around the block, relaunched OBD11, scanned the same fault, then re-enabled “Counter steer support”, and was able to clear the Steering Assist fault. Weird, but it worked. Another person on FB has successfully installed a GTI rack into a Sportwagen 4Motion, got 2.1 turns lock to lock. All he needed to do was the G85 Steering angle basic settings, no dash lights and no fault codes either.

Is the Golf R rack a quicker linear rack or is it progressive?

It is a variable ratio rack. Per Rick, it's faster the further from center you get.
