Very interesting as I have a MK7 Golf R, APR Stage 2 (installed in 2017 before Stage 2 was discontinued) with supporting mods including APR intercooler, tuned for 93 octane gas. Per the APR website, WHP is 354 and WTQ is 379. Crank HP is 387 and crank TQ is 409. These numbers are consistent with the dyno results shown by another channel. APR is known for its reliability of its advertised numbers.

Subscribed! Thanks for another good video. Yeah, we're at the end of the stage 2 era unfortunately. I'm APR stage 1 right now and although many tuners still offer Stage 2 software and downpipes, having to deal with emissions complications doesn't seem worth it. So, I am waiting eagerly for more info and data and reviews of the new APR DTR6054 and will also consider something like EQT's standard vortex with proper fueling. My car is a manual and I typically drive one gear "too low" so I'm thinking some loss of low end might not hurt me. Hungry for more info!

Been on apr software on my mk7 gti since june 2017. Car has been fbo stg 2 (with apr intercooler) for a few years with zero issues. Threw the sb stg 3 clutch in and it's good. I have the garrett 2260 waiting to go in, and will be switching to ie out of necessity. Should be a good jump, but i've been pretty satisfied with apr.
@COMotorsports2 жыл бұрын
I have no doubt. APR makes a great product. Infact some of the best period. The are a bit on the side of caution when it comes to tuning but their numbers typically always produce what they claim which says a lot compared to a lot of other companies.

They're all in front. lol. However we typically always use stock location versions for a couple reasons. 1 they're typically rated for more power, 2 they fit great and doesn't require hacking the bumper.

So, another question. With APRs 6054 release, we've seen their dyno results show that GTIs with the same mods make more power (I want to say on 93 the GTI make right around 400WHP and the R made around 375WHP and that being due to drivetrain loss...my understanding is they now actually have the ability to dyno the R in AWD mode now which is why we're seeing the differences in numbers between the cars). Now, because you unplugged the Haldex and dyno'd this R as FWD only....are those numbers actually inflated compared to if these runs were actually completed on an AWD dyno with the rear wheels driving as well? Thanks!
@COMotorsports2 жыл бұрын
The car on the road is driving around in fwd. So put that same car on a linked AWD dyno (which replicates the road) and the same thing applies...the front wheels are the only ones turning the drum....so it would be minimal IMO.

I've seen them fail from pretty much all providers honestly. Not specific to the tuner, from my experience it's related to how the cars driven. Abuse fine, lugging on the engine with that crazy long geared transmission can cause excessive knock which is generally the culprit. Beat on it all day it's fine, drive it up a hill in a high gear, low rpm and it won't be happy.

@@COMotorsports At the beginning of the video you mentioned apr is ditching stage 2 because theres a new turbo that can make 500 hp. @@Mackie17 your not taking in all the info. The one that shattered was due to a sensor problem and likely an operator problem... Which we discuss. There are tons of these making 500whp on stock engine, however with that said APRs turbo won't make that much power.
