This is the single biggest TAS project that MK7 has ever had. It's the first big collab TAS, as well as being the biggest timesave of any TAS so far. I don't know exactly how many total hours were put into this, but I can say with confidence that this is the longest that I personally have worked on a single TAS.
Normally I would list out the new strategies, but there are so many that I'm just going to give a brief overview.
New Strategies include:
- Every single ssmt (12 in total)
- 1 shroom no respawn glitch
- The fast approach for the respawn glitch
- Drifting into the recovery after the no respawn glitch
- And more!
Pretty much every part of this run had some sort of new strategy or innovation in it, and the result is something truly incredible. I'm so thankful that this game has such an incredible group of people that want to push the game to it's absolute limit, because this project genuinely would not have been possible by a single person.

A while ago, through something I would do out of boredom, I discovered that using gyro, even with tilt controls off, would affect how the kart drives. However, I was unable to figure out what was different, and was unable to find information about it anywhere. However, it seems that you TASers understand what is different about gyro, so if you could explain what effect it has when driving, that would be awesome.

@@jnpman8375 This is late but I'm pretty sure gyro is used to have multiple inputs at the same time (ex. you tilt left and hold up at the same time)

I never understand how you're able to not bonk on the wall exiting the OOB, it's just magic to me. Insane TAS and good work to all 4 of you. Keep making the community proud

@@Sun42 I don't think the lap 1 is possible rta, but possibly the way it's done on lap 2 with the snaking (although that might make it hard to get the mt on the wall). Even when tasing it took a lot of effort to make it save time though, having a slightly straighter line saved a lot of time. It's definitely worth looking into though

Yeah, we spent a bit of time trying to do the respawn glitch without a mushroom but couldn't manage to get anywhere close to it lol

That has been done in real time runs for a couple of years now, although not as optimally as that. For real time runs, we usually come to a complete stop and then reverse off the ledge while aligned for it, rather than drifting straight into it like that

What's the time difference between mushrooming OOB and having lakitu pick you up compared to doing the other oob trick a third time?

Maybe if that trick was faster (and easier) to do it could be faster. Love the TAS, great effort on the community's part. Also has anyone gotten close to doing it in a rta?

Nope! The respawn is about 1.4 seconds faster, but it isn't possible to do it without a mushroom, which is why the other laps are done with the alternative glitch

The method drake used is slower. Although it does let us complete a lap without touching any boost panels so that's cool
