*Reving engine thru the roof* Its a bloddy diesel, just slam it at 1300 RPM and it will go nice till 4000 :)

I have a question about diesels and this engine specifically. When you show the acceleration on the highway, you downshift to get 4000rpm. But, considering the torque/power curve shown later, and the stresses that this diesel would endure at this rpm due to its compression ratio, wouldn't you get better acceleration and protect the engine more if you used the 2000-3000rpm range for acceleration? I don't have any experience driving a diesel, so that is why I ask for an honest opinion. What would be the best shifting point for this engine for fast acceleration all things considered? Thanks.

+Puffenstein Excatly. the acceleration in the video would have been much much better if he didnt shift 2 gears, but shifted 1 or stayed in the same gear.

I bought a new VW Golf TDI in 2010. If the new 2015 Golf TDI is only offered in a 4 door, I won't be buying one.

Lolol, perfect usage of the Reagan quote! I'm really excited to see the new Golf Wagon/Golf Variant/Jetta Wagon around too.

In the US the TDI Model does not have independent rear suspension.
@karimmohsen829010 жыл бұрын
Nor does the Canadian version. Very disappointing. They say its because they needed space for the AdBlue reservoir.

This is whats making me not buy it

And you’d never know unless told. I have a ‘15 Golf TDI and a ‘14 Jetta SE 1.8 with the multilink independent rear suspension. You can barely if at all tell the difference in ride quality. The TDI has very compliant ride as does the Jetta. Both are excellent. Got the TDI used and it’s a steal compared to new.

Yes, unfortunately that engine is not planned for North America. I drove the 1.6L TDI in another car and it was fine.

No, I used the multifunction display to show US gallons.

It's unfortunate they're building this in Mexico for the North American market. I hear even the composition and quality of the sheet metal they use is of inferior quality compared to the Wolfsburg models.

Nice video and nice car but where do you put the camera when you were on autobahn?

Zeck007, where did you hear that the GTD will not be made in Mexico as it is not a mass produced model? Also does anyone have a video of the MK7 in pure white color?

As a person that doesnt need power and is looking for an even more economical engine, wouldn't thr 1.6 tdi be great?

Nicely done! I have the 2012 TDI bought new, and noticed my mpg actually _decreased_ slightly to mid40s combined, after the first 10,000 miles. I strongly second the request for VW to bring their 'real' product line to N America!

i like this handlebar, the gti got not the same handlebar? now is this my question, can you change the handlebars from this to the GTI or GTD what ever? Thanks

Will the mk7 tdi use a urea NOx reduction device? I read mention to it in a car and driver article. Does anyone have information on that?

Great review! You've earned a new subscriber! Is this MK7 Golf still scheduled to come to the U.S. in Mid-2014? I will be in the market for a new car then. Love the piano black finish on the steering wheel spokes and the dash design.

If you want the a golf build in Wolfsburg get the R, GTI or GTD, the mass production are the ones that are made in mexico.

Stupid question: The fuel estimate on this TDI is based off of imperial gallons, right?

An interesting, if not too surprising amount of information. The microphone was awful though and could do with much clearer sound. Chris.

Jack Attack The acceleration is very good until high RPM, which is pretty much normal for a diesel engine. As long as you're driving normally, you'll have a good acceleration. :P Don't forget, it's 340 Nm torque, which starts at 1750 and goes until 3000rpm.
