My R has arrived at the dealer. I’m going to get a sneaky peek at it tomorrow before delivery next week. Lapis blue, estirol diamond cut and performance pack as exterior options. Super excited.

Oh can’t believe I just sat watching this with my tea and even rewound it a couple of times. Some great footage from VW. Very dirty. The car is growing on me. Aiming to hit the order button middle of next year. Will look great alongside my Tiguan R

Ordered a Black Edition in Lapiz Blue with a black roof and Warmenau wheels. Would've probably gone for white if I wouldn't currently be driving a white TTS. After this video I'm not regretting not going for the Akrapovic exhaust - the standard one still sounds nice and might be less annoying to neighbors and/or my fiancée. Really helpful video, thanks!

I loved it also! It does look wonderful in Lapiz Blue and Grenadilla Black although I think this Pure White maybe my favourite. Particularly with the gloss black roof. I will have to see it in person 😊

Im from SA my 2025 golf 8.5r black edition,white color will be delivered next year end of feb. I already bought 20" lexani rims(white) to fit on it.

Thank you for the great walkaround, you do an excellent job convincing me. Thanks to your channel I visited my local VW dealership yesterday to take a look. I am in Canada (as you know lol) and they only have Mk8's in stock. it is unknown when the 8.5's will hit our shore. My best estimate is probably March. I was however thoroughly impressed with the look and feel of the Mk8 and was even tempted to go for a '24 model. After a good night sleep (and lining up a buyer for my current vehicle) I contacted the dealer to confirm my intension to buy a Mk8.5. Probably in Lapiz Blue. I'm not sure what spec I am able to buy. Who knows if a black edition is even available in Canada, even pricing is unknown.

Hi Sam ,loving the 4k film,for me the white really makes those black accents stand out,on the black edition I would rather have the standard exhaust with those black tips and put the money towards what for me must have options ,dcc,leather,Harmon kardon sound,head up display,all subjective of course, it's such a shame they won't offer the same colours as the rest of the range.😢

I really like this in blue. I've ordered an R Line with the black exterior styling package but the configurator is really vague what you get with this but I noticed recently that they have changed the pictures to include a blacked out front logo so I'm wondering if mine will come with that. Nobody seems to know.

My past four cars have been BMWs and I believe that if I was in the market for a new premium hot hatchback then I'd be hard pushed to not look at the Golf r rather than the new m135. I just think, looks and bang for buck the Golf has it.

After being inspired by your videos and Malclom Gladwell's podcast on the R, I've ordered a white one for delivery in Germany. Hopefully get it Jan/Feb. IMHO black cars just get too hot in the sun - especially in France in the summer.

I hope we will get it in South Africa. If so, it will be middle 2025. I am hoping for a silver, but will take white in the absence of silver. Will spec the normal R with performance pack, DDC and the silver Warmenau wheels. Normal exhaust as well. Our Golf Rs always comes with leather seats as standard, though. My Golf R black Edition is coming early December with warmenau wheels and akrapovic exhaust I ordered all options from the factory except leather seats and panoramic roof im coming from germany

Yes that's right. Normally the VW badge is in the normal chrome type finish but on the black edition it has the black styling pack so all blacked out.

@SamAustin I've added the black package on my R Line so I'm hoping mine comes like that. Saying that was supposed to come in September. Had 3 delays so far the latest that the estimated build date now January and that's not confirmed. Not sure what's going on at VW.

Totally subjective and maybe silly comment, but I feel like the pre-facelift 8R , in pure white, just looks so much better and is easily one of the most beautiful cars from VW. Every other 8.5 combination, irrespective of the colour, whether GTi or R, look better than the pre-facelift IMO, with the R Black Edition looking amazing. Those thin little jaws in the front-bumper of the 8.5 really kill it for me as they are sooooo visible in white.

It is a tough one to choose between! The only one I have seen in person is the R Black Edition which I drove on the channel (Lapiz Blue with the gloss black roof). I like the roof being Black and would be happy with all of them. This white car looks wonderful in full 4K from the edit 😊

To me the MK8 clubsport front bumper/facia looks the best. The 8.5 clubsport facelift looks good, but the 8 is more simple, yet aggressive and proportioned with the styling. The regular GTI MK8 is the weakest look. And the clubsport look up front is not available at all in the USA . So basically VW doesn’t give the best looking version at all to the USA. If I had the choice I would have the new Golf R with the original MK8 clubsport front bumper/facia in all black. VW seems to have a problem with what they want on the front bumper/facia. My 2021 GTI 8.5 SE in all black looks just fine up front.

This car still doesn’t beat the mk7.5 r in looks, interior or power. Its downgraded the acc sensor also. The lighting front and rear isn’t on the level of the 7.5. I don’t know the golf r might have already died before the mk9 ev comes. These last two iterations have far missed the mark 😮

In white I'm not a fan of the black edition elements. I've got one of order (US) for next year and still unsure about blue or white. I already have a Shark Blue 718 Spyder so don't think I want 2 blue cars... so white may be it... (I don't like black cars)

The black on the white looks so distinctive I wasn't sure how this was gonna look but it does look really nice, better than black on red maybe👌🏻🫶🏻
