I used to race my 90 300zx all the time. It was a non turbo but had a ton of shit done to the engine, full 2.5” dual exhaust, headers, stage 1 flywheel/clutch etc…long story short, for being a non turbo it was one the fastest 2+2 I’ve ever driven that was non TT. It was so much fun at the top end, if i got a perfect shift from 4th to 5th it would legit throw you back until around 128/130…. Not super great off the line, but got damn, I miss that car… I also am slowly dying and wheelchair bound at 35yrs old by no fault of my own. So I’m glad I got all that nonsense out between 16-21

Plus, and again this could just be how it works where I live, school zones are typically in effect during certain hours and on certain days. For me these dramas have kinda been nothing burgers mostly. The Panels app was whatever, plus he made an actual good apology addressing the issues people had with it and correcting its issues to be a more fair product for consumers. The speeding at worst for me was grossly negligent. Like why are you ripping this car in a school zone? But honestly I was more disappointed he tried to hide it. Honestly all you need to say is “I’m sorry, I wasn’t paying fully attention in that footage. I was being reckless and that’s on me.” At the same time though it’s not this big gotcha moment some people have waited for, it’s more of a just be more careful situation. It’s not just about the speeding. It’s about going that fast in a school zone. No matter how quick your reaction time is - your car is going too fast to correct it. If you’re going THAT fast, you’re almost certainly not going to avoid the collision and that high of speed almost guarantees a fatality. It’s why smaller/narrow roadways have lower speed limits. If he went 90 on a highway/freeway then hardly anyone would be outraged.

10-15 mph is generally okay and pretty much the assumed norm granted you consider the type of road, the location, points where you need to slow down, etc. 15+ is debatably okay-ish on highways and places where there is no expectation of pedestrian traffic and the speed limit is already higher. But going 2-3x the speed limit in a road like in the video is criminally stupid and very dangerous. It is pure entitlement to think that because you own a fast car that you reserve to right to drive however you want with it.

I should’ve known better but I sped a lot in my late teens / early 20s too - and got a lot of tickets (though not in school zones or residential streets). I suppose my point is just that the older you get, the more you really should start to understand that speeding can have real consequences.
