Exactly. Im super happy with my 4a even after almost 1 year of use it feel completely new. Some phones died on me after 1year. Ill for sure stick with the A-Series. Next phone ill buy will be the 6a if they going to release it. The only reason why is skip the 5a is because my 4a is still working so well. The only think that is missing for me is a Pixel watch.

Yes. agreed. I first tried the Pixel 3A after having the Pixel 2 And loved it as a budget phone. It did everything better than the Pixel 2 did. Later upgraded to Pixel 4A which I have now for the 128gb storage! I think I'll always stick with the A series.

I feel like they removed the laser autofocus to cut off those $50 so they can reserve that feature for the more expensive 6 models, and then being able to launch a new 6A model with Tensor in the future adding those $50 back to the price, or even $100 dollars and still make it cheaper than the 6

The reason they're able to cut price is because it never costed as much as to go for $500 in the first place. The 2020 releases included at $350 Pixel 4a and an upgraded version of that, which they really needed to separate in price, so that people looking to buy the 4a wouldn't look at a $450 Pixel 4a 5G and struggle to pick which one to buy, only to end up looking for alternatives to Pixel. When there's multiple offerings, there is always price separation, which doesn't have to reflect the manufacturing costs at all.

@@braydenkenney3313 I hear the wireless charging perk but with my Pixel 5 the battery is so big that even with a Google wireless charger it will take over an hour and a half to charge from about 25%. It's still nice for a few minutes here and there like eating dinner and taking a shower, and the reverse wireless charging is nice too, but since my 5 I have used wired charging much more often than with my 3 before it.

To me the a series have always felt like the most "google" of of all of their phones. The colorful pastels, the matte finishes, simple design, it all really stands out in today's landscape of ultra sleek glass sandwiches. I hope they keep that alive

Yea , that's how I feel about most of Google's products tbh. They are different than the crowd and the a series has just been the best fr. My favorite back of a pixel was the 3 / 3a with that single camera setup and the not pink color 😩. Good thing I was able to get a nice case with my 5a . And on another note google makes the best cases for it's phones. No company comes close to that

Even with a matte finish or simple metal back, I do wish they had a wider range of colours to liven it up a bit. Sometimes their design choices don’t feel very considered and feels like they’re using excess stock of whatever colour thermoplastic they have left be it black or greenish black

The Pixel 4a was my perfect phone, if it had water resistance. The Pixel 5a has water resistance, and doesn't cost me leventy billion dollars. I ordered it immediately, already have received it and migrated. Couldn't be happier. My phone is a utility, not a toy. Even as a tech person, I no longer care about the "latest and greatest" specs. I care about stability, reliability, a good name, and good support.

If the 5a was the 6a, I'd happily get it. My contract ends in October though so the 5a will just be a bit too old for me to commit to on a new contract. My 4a has been great, less powerful, worse battery and slower than my OnePlus 5T was, but it's all I really look for in a phone. Runs well, great camera and gets updates. The latter two the OnePlus failed on. My 4a has had its own hiccups though and I don't like it. It's fine 90% of the time but I have to restart it every now and then and the RAM is noticeable. I'm kinda stuck because I don't like what they're gonna do with the 6a so I don't know what brand or phone I'll go with.

If it was the regular 4a body that had that treatment, I would have loved this. But the 5G variant (and so the 5A) are too big. The 4A and 5 were so tiny in the hand it was so great. I have to agree with that, even though I love the new Pixel 6 design the older Pixels settled on a very pleasant design that worked and wasn't fussy. I've used my Pixel 2 for so long because it just worked and I was very tempted to get a Pixel 5 or 5A before they quietly discontinued everything but the non 5G 4A in preparation for the Pixel 6 launch.

China is a nightmare to sell in, India has an average selling price less than $200. The other three markets that would make sense (Brazil, Indonesia, Russia) I don't know enough about to comment on.

If anything is is a stop gap phone. Everything including the kitchen sink is going into the Six with the new Tensor chip. Google didn't want to NOT have a new 5a this year but like soo many have been constrained by the chip shortage. In doing this they can have a new limited run of the "a" series using most of the same components from last year. In so doing making it cheaper. As was mentioned next year's 6a will more than likely have a tensor chip in it at a reduced price compared to the 6. So if you need a lower cost phone right now this 5a might be what you are looking for.

I think arguably the MOST important difference between the 5a and 4a 5g that no other review has mentioned anywhere else is the 5a NO LONGER has Unlimited Google Photos backup for free, whereas the 4a 5g does. That was the deal breaker for me and I bought the 4a 5g.

The reason we were told about the phone being cancelled in the first place was because of the chip shortage, Then they did a U-turn and decided to let it run... But only in US and Japan (For the same reason). As far as prioritisation goes, The US market is obvious, And I presume Japan because of their technological connections? Not sure but there you go. OH, And the current Pixel phones are manufactured by HTC in Taiwan, But China won't see them either lol

Earlier this year, I was eligible for a phone upgrade. After seven years of being with Apple, I decided to give Android another shot. I settled with the Pixel 4a 5G and I must say, it's an excellent value. Great camera, decent performance and good enough battery life. All I'm waiting for now, is Android 12. I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

I went with the 4a 5G as well, after being with the Samsung Note series, I needed something that was smaller and more simple and the Pixel provided! I really love it and I've found a lot of the Google apps super handy. 👍 I love the recording app in particular that's free and will actually capture what you're saying and transcribe it.

I'm currently using the Pixel 4a 5G and there are things that are frustrating about it. Especially the overheating issue when livestreaming or just living in California during the summer. So the Pixel 6 sounds really tempting. Even this 5a sounds tempting cuz of the bigger battery and waterproofing. But I'm wondering if I should just wait until the Pixel 6a that will hopefully be running on the Tensor chip as well. Thanks for the informative video once again!!!

Yeah, I feel like Google kinda robs us in chipsets. They literally used the chipset that OnePlus Nord used an year ago. Now, the main competitor of 5A is Nord 2 which comes with the same price and dimensity 1200 which makes Pixel's performance a joke.

And let's not even talk about cameras. Anyway these products target different demographics, so not really a comparison. Moreover it has slim chances of launching in India, and even if it does it won't be competitive with the pricing because of taxes. P.S. OnePlus with oxygen OS is fantastic, but recently they have started killing the soul of Oxygen OS. It's most probably that we won't be seeing any OP flagship with Oxygen OS after a couple of years, or they can limit the functionality in thier midranges. Anyway, Oxygen OS is no longer the beacon it used to be. At this point it's an alternate version of Colour OS

I do a lot of phone cases/accessories reviews on my channel so that's been one of the main ways I've been able to get new phones to review easily. Unfortunately my channel is not big enough yet to get free review samples so that's what I'm leaning on right now. So if it's like $800 or less then basically I don't have to put any money down and I just pay the monthly payment on it.
