The pixel in general is supposed to be a minimalist phone... As someone who is a retailer of phones, I'm told to sell it as a minimalist phone with a great camera. It's the basic stripped down version of Android and makes it easy to learn and everything is all connected to the cloud so you never lose anything. Basically everything is based on the software overall not the hardware.

Ideal size would be between 5 to 5.5" and with a battery around 3500 to 4500mAh battery and trying to keep it as lightweight as possible.

Don't worry, it's a decent enough phone. It's also a little cheaper than the 8T. In the end it depends on your personal preferences. I myself picked the OnePlus 7t pro, since I'm a sucker for new and innovative ways to get as big of a screen as possible. I got my mom the pixel 5 since she prefers smaller phones and I enjoy fiddling around with it myself.

I really like the way OxygenOS looks, but I heard some strange things about OnePlus phones not working on certain carriers so I'm refraining. I currently have a cheap Motorola phone which works well enough but I'd rather have the Pixel 4a. Might just wait for the 5a to come out, then make a decision. OnePlus phones have been on my radar for awhile and I've almost ordered.

I totally agree. There are other reasons, but I think this is a large reason that people all want iPhones and Galaxy S/Note phones. American customs even mistook OnePlus's wireless earphones as AirPods clones and convescated them. OnePlus had to work with American authorities to get them released.

The reason why I'm choosing Pixel 5 is because it has water resistance and the 8T doesn't. 2 of my phone's have been damaged by water and UK is a quite often a rainy country too. It's a very important feature. I also like the other Google exclusive features. Kudos to the 8T having better performance in other areas though but the Pixel 5 features for me are more than enough.

I got my 8T yesterday. It's amazing. I'm using my 6T to watch this video as the 8T downloads apps. 😃 7:45 after using for 2 months I can say that the software issues on the camera are fixed with a stable GCam and decent config. OnePlus still comes out on top

Great review! Given that there are now rumors that there is another Pixel on the way at the end of Q1 2021, Google's silence and nonchalance about the Pixel 5 was very telling about what kind of phone it is (mid-range and not a top of the line like we expect from the Pixel line). I purchased one immediately because my 3XL was ready to be put to pasture lol. I like the 5, but if there really is another Pixel on the way, I'll trade my 5 in ASAP.

Hi Aaron, Two things...first of all, this was an excellent review. You covered every similarity and difference between the two phones. Differences that count in giving the "real life variables" to someone trying to make a decision not just about these phones but with the knowledge to be able to compare both phones to others on the market. This also seems to be how all your videos are; they give both the pertinent info and some of the every day info that might not be a major technological difference but are things that the average person (as opposed to a "techie") might consider. Oh my I have the oneplus 7 for the last two years and have never really been satisfied with it's camera compared to pixel (2) which was great. Looking for an affordable sub $500 good cameral smartphone but after seeing this video doesn't look like it would be an upgrade to the oneplus 8t or even the pixel 5 if I had the two since same main cameras in each...*sigh...ty 'boss, I really haven't found this info anywhere else.
