Thank you for this tutorial. I had no experience with any of those programs before. I was a complete beginner, but I followed every step, both from this video and the wiki. It took a while getting used to everything, but I was finally able to make myself a Yellow Yoshi, and I absolutely love him.

Finally!!! A character import tutorial for MKDD!! Thanks for making this tutorial! I can finally hack Spongebob, Patrick, Sonic and Tails in the game!

good luck! for fun, i recently ported blaze and silver using their models from mario and sonic 2010 ds version, that might be a good place to start when looking for low poly enough models.

how do you get blemd? theres no download
@fawfulthegreat642 жыл бұрын
After getting weird shading quirks on my custom character that I couldn't seem to solve at all, it was determined that the likely cause was the conversion using the Blemd addon for Blender instead of SuperBMD. However, I work in Blender and can't find my way around 3DS Max to save my life. Is there a way to get vanilla-accurate shading while using Blender for a custom character? As a test, I even imported a vanilla character using Blemd, then exported it with no changes and converted it back to BMD with SuperBMD. The character now has worse shading in-game. Shading that makes them look crystallized.
@tarsa1292 жыл бұрын
superbmd conversion to .bmd will always mess up some normals - if you look at around 1:37 in my maid toadette video you'll see messed up shading on toadette's head. a little bit of messed up normals, currently, cannot be worked around. resetting xforms right before skinning can remove a lot of jank in shading - this is important when you have to scale models to get them to fit in a vanilla skeleton. without looking at your files, i can't really help any futher. my discord is tarsa#8462

What is the maximum poly count.
@tarsa1292 жыл бұрын
there's no set max poly count that i know of, the overall filesize of the character (which is affected by stuff like poly count, textures, etc) is the more important thing.

Hey, is it possible at all to import custom tracks onto a Gamecube, instead of using Dolphin?
@tarsa1292 жыл бұрын
there's a program called "swiss" that you might want to look into, but i've never tried it myself.

What's the AR code to bypass mram.arc size restrictions? How much longer does it take?
@tarsa1292 жыл бұрын
i think that it should be in some message by a user named xayr (the person who made the soundmodding tools) sometime in double crew in (late?) november 2020. i'm not in that server so i can't check for myself. the idea is that instead of loading mram.arc into ram from disc at game startup and then reading from ram as needed, you skip the loading and read from disc whenever needed. however, this is significantly slower. i have not tested the bypass on console, but when i tested it out on dolphin, i recall it taking 30 seconds - 1 min upon each course load. that time is like at least 1/3 of a race, which i imagine can be very annoying. even without the delay, i don't really like the idea of requiring ar codes to play mods unless the ar code itself adds to the experience. i don't think that it is player-friendly, and it sounds like the kind of thing that can turn someone away from experiencing mods.

@@tarsa129 Isn't there a way to speed up the read speed and make it take less time?
@tarsa1292 жыл бұрын
i'm not aware of an ar code to do that, but it is possible that there is one? in dolphin, you can hold down the tab key and the game will be sped up, but that doesn't work for console users.
@SusiTerry2 жыл бұрын
@@tarsa129 No I meant in dolphin and nintendont you can increase the disc read speed and make stuff read faster, also you can increase the ram in dolphin and overclock the cpu. But yeah I understand wanting everything to perform like the vanilla game on a real gamecube.
