This was helpful what I heard was MKV has better quality and audio but may not be compatible with everything and MP4 is universally compatible and easy for streaming

mkv for me is better even edit video longplays where to cut withoud reencoded and don't have problems with b-frames or similar, just cut and join.

what about recording the file in mkv then render it to mp4? would be better than recording in mp4? or no difference?

@@TheNtrLight for me theres no are diffence, if u want in obs you can record in mkv, but go on settings and check the option to convert .mp4 if u want.

Sad, my Sansui f51 video player is being selective when it comes to mkv files. It's a hit and miss when I download movies.
