Tried mp4 on an Intel HD 610 but colors looked washed out. Im recording on the same resolution as that of my screen 1366*768 everything is as source but the quality is bad. When i use AVI and set custom productions and choose 24bit color format and use the tecsmith codec 2 the colors look so crisp and awesome but file size goes so high. What might be the issue with mp4 and intel machines. No dedicated graphics here. Using intel hd 610 and screen res is 1366*768

It's a more efficient file type to be sure, unfortunately we'll have to wait until it's more widely adopted before it becomes commonplace. When 4k becomes the standard streaming size, then it'll be needed to better compress larger files faster.

Hi Andy. Thank you for your detailed videos. Much appreciated. I have a new to KZbin channel and I'm uploading my first 2 hour mp4 music video that is 17.5GB... does this sound about right or is this too large of a file? I used the specs that you shared in your video. it looks like it's going to take 1-2 days to upload! TYIA

That sounds about right. Is it 4k? Or 1080p? You can make it 720p to save some file size but longer videos definitely get bigger file sizes. The other thing that should help would be a faster internet connection but I know that’s not always possible.

@@techsmith Andy, Thank you for your feedback. I feel more confident about this now with your professional feedback. I created my video in Premier Pro at 1080p. Since it was taking soooo long, I opened my video file in Quicktime and exported it at 1080p and it made the file about 1/2 that size, so I'm now uploading it at 8.6GB. Thanks again for your feedback... much appreciated.

Thanks for a great and very informative video! I have a question regarding file size and compression: I'm considering uploading video course content to a hosting service that charges per streamed GB, and it would only be a better deal than Vimeo if I upload relatively small video files. How much can I compress without loosing too much quality? When I export a 1h 1080 HD to .MP4 the file size is around 10GB. What's the smallest file size possible that still feels somewhat professional, and what are your thoughts on this?

I've not heard of a platform that charges you per streamed GB personally (Andy here). Seems like they're punishing your success. I wouldn't go that route, but if you are stuck and need to, you could always upload 720p videos, but I don't recommend that.

Depends on your recording size. Most of the time Camtasia will match whatever your sequence settings are, so it varies. Standard video sizes are usually 16:9 resolution, so 1280x720 (smallest HD), 1920x1080 (HD) and 3840x2160 (4K) are standards. I wouldn't be embarrassed first of all, because they're clearly not asking for a video file deliverable, and that's what you do. If they're asking for an AE file (After Effects project) then I would say no, as they're asking for the project file which is your property, unless they contractually negotiated having rights to all final assets. If it's an "AEI" file, a quick google search tells me that's an Abyss Engine (gaming) file type, which isn't something you likely used to make the video with. Hopefully that helps.

The reason I didn't (Andy here) is that most of the time right now I'm working from home, and to re-record just the word "Export" and have the audio match would have meant a trip into the studio. So graphic on screen works just as well. :) Plus anyone on older versions will still see "Share" so it's not a total loss. :) But you are correct, Audiate would have worked great for this!

If you're looking for Greek subtitles, you should be able to click the gear icon, then "Subtitles/CC" then choose "Auto-translate" and select "Greek."
