[MKWii TAS] GBA Bowser Castle 3 -

This is the first 3lap TAS using Superhopping!
You will see how broken the new tech is by looking at the ghost comparison with the previous TAS record.

Thanks to Marth who found the shroom strat for lap1 and 2, and Ejay who helped with the last turn and the last straight on lap3.

The left bottom speedometer shows the horizontal moving speed, and the right bottom one shows the vehicle speed.
Some things about the run:
-When changing the direction of Superhopping, it can be done efficiently if the previous acceleration completely runs out.
-In the long straight lines (such as 0:36 or 1:33), airtime is really useful to adjust the angle and even build up the XZ speed.
-On lap3 we used a shroom in a different spot than on the other laps to avoid the thwomp right before the ramp section. Both shroom spots saved around 0.5 seconds.

Not gonna lie, I will miss the wild tech seen in TASes for inside drifting bikes... but seeing the way outside drifting bikes pseudo-drift around the tracks in a much faster way is so cool. The movement style is so weird and new, I can't wait to see more runs like this come about and blow our minds with respect to what times we thought were possible!

This TAS right here brings the number of ultra shortcuts in the game from 22 to 21. Superhopping is similar to supergrinding in terms of what's happening in the game's code. So, it's placed in categories that supergrinding would normally be in (Unrestricted, and No Ultra SC).

Btw, because of the fact that Superhopping doesn't need such a big set up like Supergrind, Could it be a strat added to some TAS Records on tracks that do Supergrinds on some part of the track like Luigi Circuit or Delfino Square in your opinion? Superhopping should be useful on almost every course. The tracks which we think superhopping is likely to be slower on are LC, DKSC, RR, rYF, rWS, and rMC3.

Can someone please make a video explaining how supperhopping works, I want to try this in real time but I just don't understand it. I tried spin drifting with wheeles and normal Drifts but it didn't work for me.

Superhoppping works because bikes gain a small amount of external velocity (sideways momentum) from spin drifts, but outside drift mechanics mean that odbs don't immediately cancel it upon landing. The amount of external velocity lost from 08 hopping the other direction to fix the angle is less than the amount gained from the spin drift, so repeatedly spin drifting and correcting the angle with opposite hops in between builds up enough momentum for superhopping to occur.
