First of all, HUGE congrats to marvus on winning here! By far his best 1st place to date :D Now, as for Jellopuff… In order to record 10th place in high quality without burning my laptop to a crisp, I had to split it into 3 parts: 1. The first 20 seconds 2. The 97 minute speedup 3. The last 2 minutes 1 was trivial. 3 took a while but, after waiting for about 30 minutes, was also trivial. 2 was by far the biggest challenge. I set up a python script (in Dolphin PyCore) to save a screenshot every 20 seconds. I enabled this script after the race began and fast-forwarded until I disabled the script at 98 minutes. I then had 293 screenshots that could each be played back for a duration of 1 frame each, creating a smooth fast-forward sequence. Or in other words, every single frame of the speedup is an individual screenshot. Special thanks to Gaberboo for making me aware of the screenshot functionality in PyCore as I had originally planned to save them manually.

Why is it that SMTs were completely banned instead of limited? Maybe something like "you can only do a maximum of x SMTs" or "you can only do 1 SMT per y frames" could have allowed for karts to not just be essentially wheelieeless bikes but also having them not be completely broken.

It's because Kierio didn't want karts to be used in this task. The task message originally required the use of a bike. However, we got a bit upset by that ruling, so Kierio updated the task to allow karts but got rid of the main thing that would make karts a considerable option. Overall, pretty controversial decision on his part.
