I guess it could be Madrasi Samelani who had a dynamic President In Sri Veera raghavan. I had the privelege of working with him as Secretary 1969-71. Lakshmi Pathi

No. What is mentioned in description is correct. Evidence - in MLV's own voice - "Thodi demonstration" - search for this Title in KZbin n get confirmed.

Kothavasal Venkatarama Iyer was the teacher of MLVs father Ayyasami Iyer and that's how she inherited this composition.

In that Thodi demonstration audio, which goes for 90 minutes, within the first one minute, she mentions about this varnam, about the mudhirai n who was Kothavasal Venkatrama Iyer n thru him only they got to know this varnam, etc in detail. Beyond this, I don't know if she made a mistake in her speech. ​@@vramanujan
