I love it when the umpire gives it right back to the manager. That's some funny stuff right there.

Tracy S I remember one time CB Buckner got into it with the Devil Rays manager (they were still going by that), they were right in each other’s faces jawing like crazy, commentator said “I’m sure I know what they are arguing about and the only thing I have to say is I hope they both have great breath mints.”

Kershaw's front hip went toward the plate before he threw toward first which is a ball in the first clip

Because the MLB umpires are not held accountable for their Bad calls. Borderline calls are okay however, I've seen balls in the dirt called strikes.

That's a piss poor rule to have. That gives umpires way too much control and free reign of ego trips.

The first one was a balk. He stepped towards home then to first. Announcers don’t ever know what a balk is.

Part of it is it's honestly hard to tell (at least for me) what is a balk with that type of situation

@reaganfaulkner88035 жыл бұрын
No there is not. Sadly its umpire's judgment. I've been to umpire school and we were taught the pitcher has to gain distance and direction with the step and the ball has to follow. In my opinion it was not a balk.

19Harakiri76 foreign substance, was using something to doctor the ball. Could be pine tar or sunscreen, something to give an advantage to the pitcher. You’re not allowed to do that.

That’s what umpires are taught though if the pitch is close to the strike zone and we don’t call a strike then we’ll check the swing but if the pitch isn’t close to being a strike then we as the home plate umpire are to call the swing or not.

It’s a balk - 1) Seemed to me as an umpire the pitcher stepped more toward home than 1st. 2) Obviously in the umpire’s judgement the pitcher did that. 3) Case closed 👍😇.
