If it isn’t consistent, than you have a reason to gripe! 100%. Not just they are professional, but knowing that the zone is wide or tall, make the adjustment and go after the ball. Managers are usually still angry at the initial call. Going to replay, in their mind, should never happen. Umpires should get the call "right" the first time and not go to the booth. So, even though they know they will be done for the night, they argue the initial call.

Batters who try to bunt, should do so, at their own risk. I don't see how a pitcher can be liable for hitting the extended hand, relocated to the barrel of the bat, from the handle. When you deliberately move your hand from the handle, you intentionally increase the chance that the ball will make contact with a body part. Sort of like standing directly in front of the plate. Depending upon where the ball winds up after the hit, it's either a fair, or foul ball. I don't know the official rules. Just my 2 cents.
@wesnall67962 жыл бұрын
I know it’s been a year, but I’ll clarify the rules. If the batter is actively attempting to bunt at the ball, and it hits his hand, the pitch is a strike, the ball is dead, and no runners advance. If the batter is not attempting to strike the ball; but has his hand in the strike zone, the pitch is called a strike, the ball is dead, and no runners advance. If the batters is not attempting to strike the ball, and his hand is out of the strike zone, but does not attempt to avoid getting hit, the pitch is called a ball, the ball is dead, and no runners advance (unless it’s ball 4). Lastly, if he gets his out of the zone, and has attempted to avoid getting hit, it is a hit batter.

@@Seemsayin in essence, I was highlighting that there’s only one instance in which the pitcher is truly deemed “liable” for hitting the hand of the hunter. That’s basically if he threw a pitch that missed the strike zone and hit the batter while the batter wasn’t attempting to hit the ball. Much the same as he would be liable for missing the strike zone and hitting any other part of the batter while the batter wasn’t attempting to hit the ball.

One thing I think that can be applied to life and Baseball (especially when umpires are hearing it from both sides) is that "if you come across one butthole every now and again, they might just be a butthole, but if everyone appears to be a butthole, then maybe you might be the butthole." The baseball equivalent is "if one person has an issue with your call, it's most likely just them. However, if EVERYONE has issues with your calls, then maybe your the problem" Ehmm, Angel Hernandez, Will Little.

Replying to the Astros vs the Rangers clip. The plate umpire ejects someone from Astros dugout for complaining balls and strikes. You see the plate umpire starring into Houston dugout. Game broadcaster comments that umpire has no business looking into dugout and should foucus on calling the game. As a sports official in multiple sports. Regardless of level dugouts are part of the jurisdiction umpires have as responsibility to make sure players and coaches follow proper behavior and good sportsmanship practices. Universal rule in softball,baseball you can't and I repeat CAN'T argue balls and strikes. Good for the plate umpire to to eject and not put up with this behavior. Reason for him looking and starring is to identify see with certainty who the person is.
