MLB 3rd Base Pickoffs

I've seen pitchers throw to third base before. But that pickoff attempt at third base by Matt Guerrier is the only one that I've seen that resulted in an out.

Yeah, that's the only successful one I've seen as well. I've seen two no hitters live in my life, but never a 3rd base pickoff

As a right handed pitcher I used to pick a lot of guys off on third because most runners don't realize that you can lift your leg and then just go to third, they think you have to take your right foot off the rubber to throw to third but you don't as long as your left leg doesn't break the plane when coming up, just like lefties throwing to first. Baserunners just don't see it a lot so if you have a good third baseman you can get a lot of guys sleeping over there

I was on third yesterday and was about 20 feet off the bag and the pitcher tried to pick me off. I barely got back in there and my dive looked horrible 💀 I’ll definitely be staying a bit closer to the bag next time

0:00 that was my favorite move when I played in high school. No one ever expects it. It’s just a rightys version of a left hander throwing to first. The reactions were the best 😂

0:38 it’s called a suicide squeeze for a reason, can’t blame the runner for that pickoff... the batter really needed to find a way to make contact, even on that high pitch
