Nicholas MacKenzie not true. It’s where the ball hits the ground first after passing the bag. Since it took a bounce over the bag, it can be viewed as fair or foul based on when it first hits the ground after passing it
@nicholasmackenzie16474 жыл бұрын
@@jackharrington4124 nope. Where the ball passes the third base bag on a ground ball. Fly ball or line drive that hits the ground after the bag matters where it lands. A groundball can pass over the bag fair and land foul. It is still a fair ball.

So they were able to come together to overrule a foul tip/HBP call but not Armando Galaraga's perfect game? Someone 90+ feet away could see the difference of a fraction of an inch but not a full foot and a half?

Brian Perez That's the weird part. He was 3 feet from the bag. Not even close. Makes you wonder if Joyce had some ulterior motive. When Joyce starts barking afterward it seems he's angry. Why? I think it would have been cool if the base runner told the ump he was out. I wonder how he'd react to that admission.

Galarraga… the only pitcher in MLB history to pitch a 28 out perfect game. It’s time for MLB to make it right and declare it a perfect game. Present him with an award for it at an all-star game and have Jim Joyce present it to him. Joyce himself was totally distraught that he blew the call. Would it be so wrong to get it right now? Umpire errors aren’t supposed to break up perfect games. We are in the age of replay. Get it right now. Don’t start with the argument that we would have to go review all the perfect games and no-hitters if we did this. We don’t have to do that. That young man had glory taken from him in the worst way and it’s so easily corrected. The commissioner should have overruled it right then and there. Why do we pretend that the game is ought to be governed in the same way as the US legal system? It’s a sport. They can do whatever they want. The players’ union wouldn’t take any umbrage with the decision. Bureaucracy… holding us back morally as a society all the time. We the people are better than this.

I don't mind a bad call....it happens, humans make mistakes. It's when an umpire's ego takes over and they clearly overstep their authority to call Buehrle on multiple balks because he was upset with the first call. Or at the end when the guy called a swing on Howard after Howard displayed disagreement with the first check swing he was called on. It was so deliberate and disgusting.
