What's power hungry about tossing a guy for throwing equipment in the umpire's direction? The Realmuto one was ridiculous but that's spring training and those guys are predominantly AAA umps.

If that happens, forget a potential lifetime ban. The player would face assault and battery charges. The way it’s going with the likes of Angel Hernandez, the knowledge of the severe punishments that would follow may be the only thing keeping players and coaches from punching some umpires.

Back when my great uncle Christy Mathewson played ball, the players were more like indentured servants. He was one of the first people to ever play both professional baseball and football. One day his baseball coach showed up to one of his football games and yanked him from the team. Said he was too valuable to risk getting injured on the football field.

That’s supposed to be an equipment violation, the last step before an ejection, which only happens if the player continues to argue.

Half of these aren't even thrown equipment. The one with Burnett just being frustrated to have 2 straight strikes called balls the catcher didn't even look like he said anything he just randomly gets tossed.
