A grievance is a formal complaint about things breaking a contract. Like let's say your work contract says that they can not force you to work more than 8.5 hours and you work 8.51 hours. You can grievances that extra minute to have the entire day file as abuse. Which then leads to a fine, in your case you'll be the one getting the money from that fine. In Fisher case he would be paying that fine to the other owners and mlb.

MLB needs to let small market teams keep most if not all of there revenue. The desparity between large and small market is so big and growing especially for dodgers who added a country(Japan)to there revenue stream. It’s very simple, a league will not survive long when the big market teams are out spending the small market teams by 3 to 4 times. Both a salary floor and cap need to come in lay or small market fans and even some mid-market teams, are just going to stop caring. What’s a same is some small market teams like the Rays and Brewers run great operations in player development, much better then the Mets or Dodgers, but have such small windows to win, before all their good players leave via free agency. The NFL is king because fans understand each team has the same financial playing field, and it’s up to each organization and their actions to make a winning product.

You are still talking about deferred money in contracts. Please educate yourself on how deferred contracts work. The only people that really gain anything are the players. You hear things like "the Dodgers paid Ohtani 700 million," but the fact is the Dodgers are paying him 460 million; the other 240 million is being paid by a third-party bank for interest. The Dodgers are paying a total of 46 million once a year for ten years, totaling $460 million. The whole point is for the player to not be required to pay state taxes because Ohtani will start receiving money from the banks in 10 years for ten years. As long as he moves out of California before he receives any payments and relocates to a state or country doesn't have state taxes, he never pays any. So the only loser is the state of California.

The Padres were like the second or third highest attendance in 2024 and made a stack. Trying to cut payroll this year though. They put the butts in the seats by winning and now that they created the habit within the fans, now it's time to stop spending. Not because they weren't making hand over fist but because they make more when they have an A's or Pirates payroll, make their annual earnings and collect their competitive balance tax money. Their is a huge problem in MLB. Teams don't want to win anymore because it's not as profitable as just existing. Winning takes effort and cost money because you to pay more than just the players. As a Dodgers fan I was sad the day the O'Malley family sold the Dodgers to Rupert Murdoch of News Corp but then the McCourts arrived and thank goodness for Stan Kasten the architect of the 90's Braves and the Guggenheim Group. If it weren't for these amazing people I would probably hate baseball today.

Why are people shocked about Roki being a Dodger? LOL It was EXTREMELY OBVIOUS!!! All the waiting was just an extremely smart marketing strategy to make people anxious about him and then buy his merchandise.

The Dodgers and Yankees TV deals are what allow them to spend what they do. It is what it is they are taking advantage of the TV money to put together the best team possible. But don't sit here and act like The O's or the Cardinals or any other mid market team can afford to spend what the Dodgers Yankees or Mets can spend and still be profitable. I'm just over here Hoping the O's can extend Rutchman Henderson Cowser and Holliday when the time comes but most likely they won't be able to and most of those guys will find their way to the Yankees or Dodgers because they can simply pay more than anyone else. I don't blame the players but it sucks.

I think that the Shohei deal should not have been allowed. I think that the level of deferrals makes the luxury tax a joke. I have no problem with the number they are paying him... only 40% or less should be allowed to be deferred.. not 68/70 of the deal. Still, that looks good until a few injuries happen (and sadly, they always do).. They are NOT well run.. they are spending big time beyond all but 2 other teams can dream of.

@@killcamz24mota92 No, just hate the hypocrisy... when the Yanks do this.. they are the Evil Empire and bad for baseball.. When the Dodgers do it, they are a well run franchise.

I'm telling you right now. What the Dodgers are doing will change things somehow. Baseball will have to do something to maintain competitive balance somehow
