I was waiting for this podcast to drop after hearing the news that Sasaki signed. This is my new go-to baseball podcast as a Dodgers fan, and I've been watching since the Dodgers-Mets series in the playoffs. You two are S-tier baseball journalists, and it keeps us baseball fans coming back for intelligent and insightful commentary from throughout the league. Also, the Mets are the future of NY baseball. The Yankees are old and tired.

Sasaki is 23 years old but he's got the world view of a 60 year old. His childhood was tragic and he poured his heart and soul into baseball. He truly only cares about being the greatest pitcher he can be and in high school he absolutely shoved. I hope the Dodgers can give him the support he needs beyond just baseball because his struggles in MLB will be like nothing he's experienced in baseball.

MLB doesn't need a salary cap as much as it needs a Salary floor. Teams like the Marlins, Pirates, White Soxs are teams that refuse to spend even a fraction of the league average. They have declining fanbases, poor attendance, and not hope in the forseable future. Those teams do a lot more damag to the sport than the Dodgers do. Look at the Dodger's road attendance numbers and this past World Series TV viewership in comparison to prior years. We all hate them but we want to see Ohtani and Company when they come into town. That's good for baseball.

Love you ladies and loving the extra innings content. Yes, the Dodgers just got Rouki and the Padres whiffed at the end but that was because there was too much drama, turmoil and uncertainty going on in SD. They have not signed an MLB ready free agent (as of today) and are looking to unload some of their expiring contracts. A young player would not want to start their career there. Thanks for covering this signing and diving in to his story. Many Dodgers a similar sad but inspiring story (ie. Freddie Freeman). Continue the great work and I'll continue to support as an LAD fan 💙

The problem with MLB isnt a salary cap, it's a salary floor. The smaller market teams you referenced go out of their way to maximize profit without investing into the team. For the pirates or A's, they'd rather hope for a competitive (at best) season with a high enough profit to justify the owner's "investment" than spend all the money they can to try and win it all. That's why we love owners like Steve Cohen and the group that owns the Dodgers: you play to win and fans want to show up for a winning team. It's depressing as hell if the owner of your team owns it to make a profit and couldn't care less about winning. Also, have to add how awesome it is that the best Mets podcast is hosted by two legit friends from upstate NY. Cheers from the only Mets fan in Troy, NY!

The reason they don’t have a salary cap is because they would also have to add a salary floor which will force the lower third of owners to spend tens of millions to go above the salary floor. As we can all see, at least 10 teams won’t spend. That will kill the owners vote.

Ladies, you should do an episode on salary cap but you should look at how revenue sharing is done in MLB. Then compare how much teams are getting from revenue sharing compared to how much they are spending on player payroll.
@islandof1780Сағат бұрын
Everyone talking about how "illegal" "unfair" "ridiculous" the Dodgers are and there should be salary caps etc. But no one ever talks about how unfair college football is. It's the same exact thing. Every single year, it's the same teams in college football playoffs or ranked teams. And yes, money is a reason. NIL, top of the line facilities, etc.

Next Year in the 2026 season the dodgers will have: Snell, Glasnow, Yamamoto, Ohtani, Sasaki, Gonsolin, Stone, Miller, Sheehan, River Ryan, Kyle Hurt, Michael Grove, and Nick Frasso (Top Prospect). They could have a 13 man rotation, more than half of which have all star potential and Glasnow, Yamamoto, Snell, Ohtani, Sasaki, Gonsolin, and Stone could very well have a 2.50 ERA season and compete for a Cy Young award.
