The 2023 WBC was a huge turning point for the sport. People will be looking at these guys when they come over to the states and will say, Hey didn't this guy play in the WBC. That's one of the reason why I believed in the WBC.

I'm an American, but I'm a big fan of the NPB and watch more Japanese baseball than MLB these days. I've noticed a lot more English speaking viewers starting to tune in after the WBC. It's really nice to see. There are so many talented players that will make waves in the MLB. 😊

agreed to a certain extent, as an American I too watched more Japanese & Korean content then I used too but more because I didn't have much of a choice due to COVID. But I get it. The WBC was pretty awesome and was my first experience with it. So much talent in the baseball world than simply MLB talent. Aside from his wind up, he reminds me of a prime Tim Lincecum with his approach. Lincecum, in his prime, had a fastball top out at 95. His strikeout pitch was a nasty change up.

Lincecum always had control issues though. It was obvious that if his velocity/spin rate ever dropped he was gonna have issues trying to hit his spots

I actually wanted to see Jung-hoo Lee take the route players like Dae-ho Lee and Seung-hwan Oh before him take. Go to Japan, rule the NPB for a couple of years THEN go get that fat MLB paycheck. In the end the Koreans just wanna beat Japan and what better way to do it then send their best player to learn the ways of the NPB first?

Jung-hoo Lee is definitely a great defender, but he’s golden glove award is not telling anything about his (or any player in KBO’s) defensive skills. Golden glove award in KBO is more like a Silver slugger award in MLB. This year, the KBO defensive award has been added. Though, I’m pretty sure that he would win the award if he played full-time.

No doubt this dude is good...but Japan's MLB is quite frankly equal to or just *a little* above MLB's AAA. He'll end up as an overpaid starter for the likes of New York, LA or Ranger/Astros. Good for him but nowhere near the elite pitching "Cy Young" caliber they will pay. Super thin 2023 free agent market puts him well over $100M for someone that will be a #3 starter.
