One of my favorite obscure baseball stats is related to that Chris Davis pitching performance. That game went 17 innings, Chris Davis was 0-8 with 5 Ks, and pitched a scoreless 16th and 17th to get the win.

I remember watching this game live. I thought that it would never end, and then I remember the play at the play in bottom of the 16th to save the game. Then Adam Jones follows it up with a 3-run Blast in the 17th, setting up Davis to get the win. Wildest one I have ever watched.

I like it when it's in like the 17 th inning and the manager has no choice but to have one throw
@jackson51167 жыл бұрын
Usually blowouts have that happen too, because they went through so many guys as well.

Best part: He pitched two innings! Most position players don't even get the chance to finish one.

he pitched in a clutch situation too. Even relievers may not pitch better in that situation.

It's funny that MLB players can hit home runs off of actual pitchers, but can't hit a position player.😅

Angela Franson that is almost like saying hitters get a homer in everytime

Almost every professional baseball player was a pitcher at some point, and a good one for that level. Eventually they couldn't throw 95+ FB with enough control or movement and 2 or 3 other pitches and played another position. A ton of position players are probably just a grade below A-ball pitchers on a single-game level.

Also true. Good players were good at everything.

I love seeing all the position players throwing knuckleballs (in this video, Wade Boggs and Danny Worth both threw knuckleballs. Also, Matt Holiday and Erik Kratz threw knucklers)

Even though it happens in blowouts/extremely long games, I love it when position players through Ks. So much fun.
@adidasoccer11117 жыл бұрын
Why are most of these blowouts with the losing team pitching? Is that why they are pitching? Because it's a game that doesn't matter of count?
@roman6957 жыл бұрын
adidasoccer1111 pretty much. But also they've already gone through so many pitchers at that point. The pitchers don't pitch to well when they are bogged down from allowing 20 runs

I didn't realize my team (the O's) had such a rich tradition of blowing out teams by absurd margins. Maybe if we could save those runs for games we could use them....
