Peter, along with all 29 other MLB Owners would have never personally funded a stadium with their own money. They all use tax payer dollars to fund stadium projects, Manfred gave them a deadline for a new stadium and the people of Oakland voted against it (multiple times). I don't blame them I wouldn't want the tax increase but this has been the standard for pro stadiums since the 50s (Cleveland Municipal Stadium) so realistically why would the As invest in a team the City didn't really want when the chips were down

My first team was the Athletics, and I later moved around the country when I was young (military brat), and settled in Seattle in the early 90s, and was there for all their playoff runs, making it easy to cheer for them and become a fan. To this day, I'm still a Mariners fan for over 30 years. I've always had a soft spot for the Athletics, and it bothered me when they made the stadium ugly with the football remodel, it also bothered me when I heard they wouldn't be there in Oakland anymore. What this situation has made me realize is how badly the AL West teams have been run... The Mariners, Athletics, and Astros have owners that care about making additional money, more than they care about the product they put on the field, while the Angels and Rangers suffer from meddling ownership that leads to bad contracts for bad players which hurt the final product on the field. The Angels always seem to be getting killed by the Hamilton, Pujols, and now the Rendon deals. The Rangers threw stupid money at DeGrom, Scherzer, and other older vets. So I agree that it makes us feel like our division breeds as much compassion as contempt.

Was too young to remember the Winnipeg Jets leaving but it did suck to not have sports to go to anymore in the city. And even recently with Arizona losing their hockey team this feels different. First A’s game in 1977. Trevor, question for you, what can the players do to fight back? I’ve heard the Players Association has to approve playing on turf outdoors in Sacramento where it’s 110 many days during the summer. What if the Players Association says no? “Playing on 120 degree turf threatens the health of our guys.” Is it possible for the players and fans to unite against a terrible owner? Fisher’s support among other owners must be soft, especially if there are billionaires ready to buy the team and make the problem go away. How can ALL OF US come together and turn this around?

I agree overall with everything you said, but I will point out that California is a joke in terms of cost, so I'm not surprised that it would be far more expensive to build a stadium in the Bay Area, than in Minnesota. Realistically, the number should've been $600 million. Your overarching point about him not being a good dude and not negotiating in good faith should not be ignored.
