As a member of a grounds crew for a collegiate baseball team, I can comment on some of your fascinations with the grass patterns and landscaping. Patterns are created by bending the blades of grass during mowing. Lighter grass is bending away from you and force light to bounce toward you, and vice versa for the darker grass. Patterns can be changed up to 3 times a week. All MLB stadiums, except for Rogers Centre and Tropicana Field, feature real grass. SunTrust Park is in its second year of existence, and the photo used was taken during construction after the sod had been laid down, thus it had not been cut/patterned yet (and the seats were empty). The sod is laid in strips, similar to installing turf.

I took a road trip over the summer to a bunch of different stadiums. I ended up at the Rogers Centre on July 1st which just so happens to be Canada Day. They had the roof closed due to excessive heat, and everyone was wearing red (and we got there in time to get one of the red caps they were handing out). They had a big ceremony for Canada Day. The only thing I didn't get to hear was their horn, never hit a HR and didn't win, but got to see one of the better wall climb catches in the MLB. (Stuck his foot into the padding and actually ripped it open with the metal spike to make the catch.)

Fun note about Minute Maid Park in Houston. The reason why there is a train above the left field wall by the window is that building behind that is actually the old Union Train Station. The Astros use it now as its team office building and every time the Astros score the train horn goes off and when there is a home run the train goes down the track. A great detail about the history of the old downtown district before the park was built.

That's an old picture of Coors Field. Those empty seats you saw were replaced by an area called "The Rooftop" a few years ago. It's basically just a giant bar where all the people who go to the game to drink hang out. It was a good business decision by the Rockies though, because no one ever sat in them and now it attracts lots of people. Also, can you do a ranking of the MLB stadiums from the outside like you did with the NHL arenas? Some stadiums have some really awesome architecture on the outside.

YES! They love Miller Park! I personally, even though I'm from Green Bay and live with Lambeau Field, love Miller Park more for some reason, even though it's like half the cap, it looks SO much more massive because of that roof! Yet inside it looks so intimate, so charming, it's so pretty, it's one of those stadiums in baseball that was truly built right the first time. Even though it's not really accessible by public transportation, it's SUPER easy to get to by car. It's surrounded by like 4 highways in every direction, ample parking, it's not far from downtown so it's accessible by frontage roads too, it's just a near perfectly built park. It's only flaw is that it's not great for able bodied people because there's so much parking space.

I wish that there was more to thid video besides, "yeah, looks good. Next." It was even said that baseball stadiums are great because they are allowed unique field shapes which gives personality. There should be some history, some look at design, or something said about the team. This is the first video I've seen by you guys, but I take it you're not big on baseball - which is fine - not every sports fan is. I just feel like more reseach could have been done here. By the way, here are some facts worth noting: Tropicana Field's roof doesn't close. The building behing Angels Stadium is the Honda Center. Nobody uses artificial turf anymore. OCo Coliseum is a multi-purpose stadium; The Raiders play football there and the A's play baseball there. There used to be a hill in center field at Minute-Maid Park called Tal's Hill, which was removed in 2016 and it had flag poles on it that were in-play, so if you hit one (technically even at the top) the ball would still be live.

The big building at Oriole Park is the old B&O warehouse. The park was built on an old 1800’s B&O Railroad station called Camden Yards. Some ballparks are more of hitter's parks or pitcher's parks. This usually has to do with the distance of the fences and the altitude of the park, as fly balls go farther at higher altitudes.
