Great video. I drove the bus for the Reds AA affiliate(Pensacola FL) during the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Busses do break down. Reds made a great effort to get the guys decent food, but some cities are hit and miss, and guys 20-25 enjoy fast food regardless. I think hotels were not so bad in the Southern League. Sheratons, Hilton and Hilton Garden, Hyatt, Doubletree. When guys are living a dream and have a chance at large $$$$$$$, Hotels and bus rides are really small items to deal with. I enjoyed the kids, and now some of them I drove(Josh, Aristides, Brian, Shed, Tyler to name a few) are in major league threads.

I worked in a sports bar that had a sponsorship deal with the club. In lieu of paying for the banners ( two, one on each side) of the rink, the bar would provide free food for any player that went to the bar to hang out and mingle. Anyway, the players would show up. Easily indentifiable because they were required to wear jackets and ties when out in public and representing the team. And of course the groupie chicks would be on these guys like flies on raw meat. These girls were out of control. And of course the players were equally so. SO when there are a bunch of 20 something men and women consuming alcohol one thing led to another. It was chaos at times. The women would on occasion get into these cat fights over who should be sleeping( euphemism for knocking boots) with which player. It was free entertainment. Every once in a while one of the players wanted to make their escape, so they'd come to the bar and ask our assistance. Id have the guy give me his keys, I'd go get his car and drive it around to the rear of the building. I'd come in, tell the player to come around the bar which led to the kitchen and to the back door of the building. I'd get them out on the sly and away they went. The best part was when the woman would come up to the bar to ask if we had seen ( Name of player) . I'd say stuff like "no , haven't seen him"....Or, if the woman was obnoxious or she was a regular we just didn't like, " Yeah, , he left about 20 mins ago".....LOL. I'd get stupid questions like "Do you have his phone number?"..."Do you know where the players live?" Uhh, no and no....

Our bus broke down about an hour out of Slippery Rock on the way home, and I got two hours of sleep in a suite back at the ballpark before work started for the next day's game. Think the players managed to get home for about four hours of sleep - skipper Andy Haines was just fantastic, and told the boys to only be back an hour before first pitch.

If you're sent to a good baseball town with a good MiLB ownership/MLB partnership, it's not nearly as bad as playing in the Northern League or the new American Association. I would, however, like to see the list of 40 teams Commissioner Manfred mentioned where guys are still riding on school buses.

I think there are more pre-madonnas in professional baseball than all the others combined.

Might that be because baseball has a longer season and players have longer careers than in other sports.

After watching this video, the high school prospects might think that accepting that college scholarship is not that bad. In college, you have better accommodations and have a college degree to fall back on if your major league career doesn't work out.

While I haven’t flown any NFL teams yet, my company has a contract to fly the NFL around. I have flown our VIP 747’s before; they’re amazing!

MLB Umps fly first class everywhere. Minor league umps travel coach, although they can do first class when going to a fill-in MLB assignment.

They have to hold multiple tickets to multiple cities, as they can be called elsewhere at any time. I actually help MLB umps with their travel arrangements, and they are hands-down the coolest people I have ever worked with in all my years in the travel industry.

Getting paid to play the sport I love would be enough for me. I get it, but I would go to the ends to the world to play game in front of a crowd.
