In this seminar, Sāgaradevī will present aspects of her recent theoretical thinking about how the enactive approach and recent developments in the cognitive science of wisdom could support the development of theory in contemplative education, informing future research and deepening understanding of its potential contribution to human flourishing. This will include consideration of Relevance Realisation as a means of understanding how contemplative practice may contribute to the development of the wisdom and as such play a role in the evolution of education in the 21st century. She proposes that recent research and philosophical discussion about the nature of mind, cognition and wisdom, underpinned by an enactive approach, could inform future theoretical models of contemplative education supporting future research and application. Although she has years of working with the theory and the application of contemplative pedagogy, she feels new to enaction and philosophical ideas of mind and cognition and would value supportive discussion with MLE friends to gain new insights into what she has been working on and identify connections to the work of others.
