This bug happened to me in 2007 believe it or not. An ancient godsword wasn't required to do it back then. A guy wearing a partyhat used to stand in Falador waiting for his victims to follow him, where he would then createsmall talk whilst luring them towards his PoH. Once I arrived there, there would be a guy in full Dharok's and another guy in the dungeon. Once I was low hp, the other guy would cast a spell and whilst the spell animation was in mid-air, the owner would kick me out of the house. I then died outside of the house and lost everything except 3 items. I never found any video with anything similar to this, nothing on the forums or Reddit so I just forgot about it until now. This bug has actually been in the game since the game was made, not since January. Jagex still hasn't patched it, crazy.

That is so cool (aside from you losing your stuff, haha). I think it is a very general problem across the game, where some pending damage/timer should be cleared but is not. Not really a "bug" in that it isn't unexpected behaviour - just an unexpected outcome which may have been overlooked.

@@SCTyler. i think most clogger slotters would just do it in f2p world cause you get same amount of tickets if you win against 1 player with 1 point while they have 0 or vs 32602363269938683 players and your team has 363226323262374378 points while they have 0. and with runelite plugin that allows you afk for 25? minutes the only thing you need to do is move alt account at start of the match. and its guaranteed wins. so you need only to win 267 games to complete castle wars clog (800 tickets for gold decarative body is most expensive one,3 per win,2 for scorless tie and 1 for regular tie or lose. and you get full refund when you see pieces to npc) so there is no need to hop into regular castle wars game if you just want to do clogs.

It seems like, while they did fix this expression of the bug, the bug it's self is still there. If you can still take delayed, post-death damage, that leaves the door open for someone to find another source of such delayed damage. it also leaves the door open for any future, delayed damage weapons to put us back in this scenario. It would seem more effective to clear any pending damage once you die so you can no longer take that damage. Possibly even make it so that you cannot take a pvp death in a non-pvp area/ revisit the mechanics for classifying a death as a pvp death.

this has always been the case, even for something as established as poison. if they don't explicitly clear it in the necessary scenarios, it can be abused. the most obvious e.g. being POH lures after construction release. as long as they are diligent, it can be avoided. i do think they should make pvp deaths in non-pvp areas less of a threat, though.

I have noticed this delay before but only with prayer points, at terror dogs in tarn's lair - the area effect continued once after death but I don't see any abuse potential for that specific instance. Very interesting video! It reminded me of once upon a time in RS2, exiting a POH didn't heal HP or cure poison, so the lure/scam went: invite someone to POH, damage them down to low HP with house PvP and make sure they're poisoned, then kick them from the house so as they spawn outside they end up dying from the poison tick. Jagex "patched" it by only healing people as they exit - in theory, this method would've worked back then even with their "fix" if you had a delayed way to 100-0 people from full HP like now in OSRS.

The method would also spread quickly since presumably most victims would be screen recording and figure it out

Variants of this have been in the game since the mid 2000s. You used to be able to vengeance, animation stall, and have someone hit you in your POH basement on low HP. You'd kick them from the house and they die outside, and you'd get their loot.

true for poison/venom, too. pretty standard concerns for any type of new content. very rarely missed. i believe ACGS was the first general-use PvP weapon which deals large amounts of delayed damage, so it was particularly bad in this case.

will touch on that more in my next bug-related vid. likely a result of them having just launched the biggest update ever, not the norm for bug reports. or maybe i wrote an incomprehensible bug report at 4am idk. still not good, but thankfully nothing bad happened.

Why did you get 100k if a player who died had 100k and after he died had 2 gp? You should get 99 998 gp

i did it twice as my recording didn't catch the perspective of my main the first time. second time i noticed this and wanted the nice, round number in the key!
