My therapist used peppermint oil as a grounding tool when I was talking about past experiences. The idea being that once I’ve talked about it, that I smell the oil to help bring me back to a safe place. This is ONE tiny tool in her toolkit amongst other methods and I use ALL her methods as well as the oil in my everyday life. The idea that peppermint oil ALONE could cure me is outlandish.

I was going to purchase some oil for bug repellant and to use an air freshener in the bathroom where I keep my cat's litter box. I spoke with a "friend" who sold YL. I asked if a particular oil was safe for cats. I learned from my mom that not all oils are safe especially if you are diffusing them. My friend told me my cat would acclimate and I should use it. After doing a quick search I discovered multiple sites stating that the particular oil I wanted to use will cause respitory distress and death in cats if it is breathed in. It took all of 30 seconds. I confronted my "friend" and confronted her with what I found and that she shouldn't lie to people to make a sale. I immediately unfriended her. So I would never trust what a hun says.

The horror story about the app of young living “treatments” gave me a visceral reaction and brought me back to the hardest time of my life. I was working at an animal hospital as a kennel attendant for daycare and boarding. The owner and lead veterinarian LITERALLY would whip out this giant purple spiral bound young living binder and look for things that would help your pet. That’s not even the most alarming part. I went to her one day saying I needed some time off because my dad has a rare disease and was relapsing from it at that time and I wanted to go see him because he was being kept at a hospital in the city. The first thing she said after I told her I was struggling with realizing I might not have my dad anymore because of this disease… she RUSHES to this purple young living BIBLE basically and asks me for the specifics of his disease and other personal medical information she has no right to. I thank her for the concern but decline. Then later she comes to me and says here’s a blend of a few oils she thinks might help and to please use this on my dad. I know she meant well but at that moment in my life, being painfully aware of my fathers mortality because of disease THAT HAS NO CURE, it was so gross to me she would say to just use these oils and that it’s my fault that he’s like this because I haven’t tried these essential oils. Looking back I know she thought she was helping me and it was her weird way to show support in what I was going through but in the moment I could not believe what I was hearing. It’s truly scary that people can become so brainwashed and bring it INTO THEIR PRIVATE VETERINARIAN CLINIC. It makes me wonder if she is part of the MLM or she just really believed in the oils because she would always have them on display for customers from the vet to buy. It’s crazy how that stupid purple binder got all this out of me and the fact that it’s an app anyone can get now… it’s so scary. Side note: My dad is recovered now from that relapse and we are doing everything we can to get him the treatments he needs to maintain his quality of life and he is still living with the disease since there is no cure but we are managing it one day at a time. Thank you for reading this and thank you Hannah for sharing these stories because it just really shows how deep these MLMs can get into a person.

AGENT ORANGE POISONING?! My god. I have no words. That's... I mean, I sort of understand how awful it is to be suffering from Agent Orange poisoning (I have a relative who was poisoned by Agent Orange in Vietnam. He often wears a shirt that says 'I was killed in Vietnam, I just haven't died yet.' He is still alive but has many effects from it including a rare type of dementia) and how people living with it (or their carers) would want to try anything that claims to help, but... really that's just another reason why this is so scummy, isn't it? Exploiting disabled veterans and their carers for money.

"SD" is a very raw subject for me, as I lost two close family members to a double "S" coming up on two years ago. But the instructions from that app about how to use the oils to treat "SD" made me legitimately laugh out loud, and that's not my usual reaction to the topic at the best of times, and especially not recently! So thank you for lending a little levity to an otherwise painful subject.

During the Amway business plan, they would ask if there are any "traditional business owners" in the room and then would ask how much it cost to start their business. After the first time I spoke up, I was coached to inflate the cost of starting my business, since my actual startup costs were very minimal. For example they would say "well, you needed a computer" but I already had one. "You needed to buy ___ software" but I already had that from school. That kind of thing. Ultimately this still only got me to a few thousand dollars, and even that I felt icky saying. I was then told to not raise my hand and if I did raise my hand I would not be called on.

Yay! Thank you for reading my cousin’s story! My jaw hit the floor when I heard about it. It’s so utterly despicable what they did to her, I hardly have the words for it. Hi Zeke! Love his camera bomb 😹 I full on belly laughed! We love the kitties in the videos, keep it up ❤️ And today I learned that you don’t have Kijiji there! (Hi from Canada! 👋🏻 and yes you did pronounce it right!) Re: the hair loss comment in that story - I have a friend who has alopecia and is bald and was targeted and recruited into Monat too. (Her hair never has grown back, surprise) She’s a single mom on assistance and I’m so mad someone targeted her for her disease. 😤 That YL app is WILD! And I’m fairly certain it’s illegal for their reps to make medical claims like that. I saw ADHD on that list there and as someone with ADHD, that makes me so angry. I’ve seen several oily huns make those claims in relation to ADHD. I’ll take my doctor prescribed medication so I can actually focus at work, thanks. And I also have panic attacks too. That made me feel so much solidarity to hear you talk about that. Sincere thank you for talking about that so openly ❤️ Re: hustle culture. One of my favourite quotes is “Hustle Culture is toxic. Rest is revolutionary.” Thanks again! - Tegan

Trigger warning: the YL app/reference guide even has oil recipes for people dealing with sexual assault, etc. 😢 It is disgusting! Oil Huns always say, ‘I have an oil for that!’ They should be ashamed.

To that last story that you shared, I hope she breaks that non-disclosure agreement by touting the names specifically of those guilty people. I can't imagine that contract has any legal teeth because intimidation and racketeering is illegal. She would want to make sure with a lawyer. I hope she does. These names need to be public knowledge. There should be legal consequences against these specific people so they can't intimidate like that again.

Exactly, she was threatenes into silence and has proof of the threats made against her and the lies she was told to spread. I would absolutely break the NDA and I'm sure Hannah's community and other anti-MLM communities could help spread the word to raise court fees if it came to that (which it likely would). These people are gross in every which way and I can't wait for MLM's to be banned as the pyramid schemes they are. We're getting closer and closer to that day.

So pleasing to watch). Since I just enjoy your content I decided to watch your anti mlm content and boy did it make me go down the rabbit hole 🤣 I’m now subbed to 5 other anti mlm creators and I’m hooked! The SD is so sickening and hurtful to those who suffer those tendencies. It’s a much bigger problem than oils can solve. And the baby thing….ummm mom here and babies don’t decide to stay in the birth canal?!? WTF?!? LoL!!

Both of the childbirth examples from the essential oils app are problems that require Immediate medical attention! I had my daughter during early part of the pandemic, and there were so many dangerous claims from natural birth advocates using the pandemic as an excuse to try to scare pregnant people out of hospital births or even using properly-trained midwives for home births. The beliefs peddled in that app have definitely caused deaths or serious injuries to babies and pregnant/postpartum people. If they don’t have a disclaimer on each page saying that someone should call 911 for medical emergencies it’s extremely irresponsible. (Side note, Kijiji is Canada’s version of Craigslist, and you were pronouncing it correctly :)

Why would anyone want a baby to stay in the birth canal? That hurts so much. How about keeping baby in the uterus instead? Or just giving birth when you're in labor? Wtf
@doclewis8927Ай бұрын
I use essential oils for exactly the uses that they were meant for...sore muscles and exterior use ONLY. I have truly sensitive skin so there are some essential oils that cannot be used by me but when I saw that people were making things to eat & drink with these products it made me sad. Essential oils can be used as a topical agent but that's it. Things like eucalyptus has been used for generations for clearing our sinuses and sore muscles BUT it is deadly to ingest. Please, please, please do not use any essential oils for tonics or whatever. Always do allergy skin tests if you're going to use essential oils on your skin and ALWAYS dilute them because the concentrates can and will burn your skin. Young people should avoid them completely.

I was wondering exactly the same thing! I dared to Google it, and everything I found was about how to make sure the baby moves THROUGH the birth canal with as little difficulty as possible, or it was questions about how long can a baby be in the birth canal before medical intervention is required. I'm still confused.

@@hawaiianshirts4715 Thank you for looking it up. I guess it's just another example of how full of sh*t these MLMs are.
@Andreamom0012 жыл бұрын
The only time the baby needs to stay in the canal is if there is a problem with the umbilical cord (protruding where it will get crushed during the birth and cut off blood supply to baby or wrapped around baby's neck). From my understanding, all that needs to happen is mom stop pushing while medical people reposition the cord. There is no need to fuss with the baby's fingers or toes...and if they can reach both the fingers AND the toes, there is something seriously wrong, like a frank breech or something. Baby can come out feet first (footling breech, which is rare but not an emergency) and headfirst (which is normal). Headfirst, the fingers and toes should be out of reach. Feet first, only the toes should be in reach...and in that case, you want the baby to come out quickly to prevent it trying to breathe before it's fully out.
