This is currently my second favorite episode of this season. You're right, it is very difficult to avoid spoilers like this. Sweetie Belle may be my fave of the CMC but, Scootaloo was exceptionally great in this episode. To think that she grew up not being told that she was the best anything, hearing this was very sad and heart wrenching. I'm just glad that this has changed for the better with Rainbow's family filling in that void.😊 I really like the high spirited personality's of Bow Hothoof and Windy Whistles, they are such good parents! These family-type of episodes are some of my favorite things to look into in this series, they're filled with interesting backgrounds on the mane characters, followed by some feelsy and touching moments. Now if we're to get an episode focusing on Applejack's parents, that would be fantastic; for it is a highly anticipated story that I'd like to see!

I was surprised how mad you got at Rainbow, you usually save that for the villains. I don't agree with what Rainbow did but I kinda understand why she did. I hope you do the next episode and episode 10 blind. There are moments in those I want to see your first reaction to, but if not oh well.

Oh yeah, this episode went straight into my all-time favourites and your reaction kept up with it too. I'll admit it was a little disheartening to see you lay into Dashie so strongly, but that just shows how much family means to you (I'll admit, my own family situation is such that, I can understand and have been in both Rainbow and her parent's situations at that point...). Still, this was a pure feels reaction all the way through and I loved it.

Very enjoyable reaction; thanks! :) I do wonder whether Scoot's apparently unhappy home life might explain why she's always worked so hard to prove herself -- like in "Flight to the Finish" when she tried for hours and hours to fly. This was such a great episode, though as a big Scootaloo fan I'm biased! "Wow" was pretty much my reaction on first viewing, and I still love it. And as Narrator said, now to wait for Cobalt to get his reaction done! :D

The message feels kinda shaky, considering Dash's personality in early seasons. She was quite boastful and selfish and seeing now how her parents treated every little thing she does like a real accomplishment... it made her hungry for attention and praise and because it's less valuable, she "takes it for granted" just like she said. Only the episode makes it look like it's completely Dash's fault even though her parents raised her that way.

But, they're mostly just for swimming. Oh, and bath time!" TPrower: "Dare I ask why, Windy?" Let's just let the folks over at Fimfiction work that out. 8. 13:41 "Very nice summary, Scoot." If you couldn't get Morgan Freeman to narrate your life story, Scootaloo wouldn't be a bad second option. 9. 15:39 Spitfire was surprisingly cool about having a short tail for the rest of the episode. I guess she's just not as concerned with appearances as some other mares. 10. 16:12 "Okay, now it's starting to get a _little_ out of hoof." Yeah, even I'd have to draw the line at my parents following me into the locker room. 11. 17:52 Wow. Bow and Windy may have gone overboard, but it was all out of love, and they didn't deserve to be yelled at by their own daughter like that. I now wonder if this is more what I’m bringing to this episode than what’s actually in it, but the first time I saw “Parental Glideance” I had a particular interpretation in mind, and that colored my appreciation for it. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Rainbow Dash’s parents are so supportive of her, because I was afraid that the show was going to explain away her ego and competitive streak as being because she was never good enough to please her parents. I was so glad they went in the opposite direction from that. But when I saw how Rainbow Dash feels about her parents, especially when she chews them out in the locker room and then shows Scootaloo that picture, here was the impression I got: I thought that Rainbow Dash got nothing but the highest praise from her parents no matter what she did, so that when she was old enough to consider that others NOT constantly praising her might just be correct, she was in sort of a “You have to say that, you’re my parents” mentality. Put another way, “If you keep telling me that everything I do is awesome, how will I know when I really have done something awesome?” I thought that her problem with her parents was dishonesty with her-at least in her perception. This may be colored by my own experiences. For a long time I got A’s as my final grade, and…I didn’t feel proud or accomplished. I felt like I had just done what was expected of me, and hadn’t gone beyond that. But when I went to college and got a B in one class, my initial thought was “FINALLY a teacher with standards!” I guess I thought something similar was going on with Rainbow Dash here, and that she’s super competitive because she’s trying to actually EARN the praise that her parents have been giving her for free all her life. But looking at it again, it seems like that’s coming more from me than from the episode. Maybe there’s a little of that, and maybe that’s what I picked up on, but it seems mostly like she’s just embarrassed by her parents who have no sense of subtlety or indoor voices. But I still like my fanon because it helped me relate to Rainbow Dash, a character that I didn’t really relate to when I was introduced to her (I’m not athletic or competitive and while I’m definitely prideful, I don’t like to bask in praise directed at me). I just wanted to share that.

It's not like you had to save equistria from danger multiple times, have pinkie pie for a friend, and oh yeah being the element of LOYALTY! Also derpy beating both rarity and rainbow dash all she needs now is to beat either Apple Jack or pinkie pie at something and we got princess derpy!

I’ve seen people compare and contrast this episode with “The Parent Map”, and I definitely see that, but it occurs to me that it can also be compared to “Yakety-Sax”, with Bow Hothoof and Windy Whistles in the Pinkie Pie role. But while “Yakety-Sax” bothers me and I don’t like it, I don’t feel the same way about this episode somehow. Maybe at least part of it is that Bow and Windy’s enthusiasm was for Rainbow Dash, while Pinkie’s was for an inanimate object. Maybe I could have liked “Yakety-Sax” if it had been more like this episode: maybe if Pinkie was trying to entertain or cheer up her friends with her yovidaphone playing, and they got so irritated that they uncharacteristically snapped, and that hurt her feelings and she decided to stop playing in front of them, but then they apologized and reconciled with her. Just a thought.

This episode was off for me Rainbow Dash was in the wrong for the way she lashed out at her parents but she was right her parents were way to over the top it was embarrassing and wrong they celebrate everything and there efforts end up disrupting other ponies they should have talked this through and come up with a solution that works for everyone like I appreciate you and love you but tone it down Rainbow Dash wasn’t completely wrong they should have reached a compromise in the end because the parents were very intrusive on Rainbow Dash’s life and didn’t pay attention to her feelings at all
