I can see her as an abandoned changeling. Maybe she was adopted into her family. She looks very different from all of them, and the reason why they are so glum is because they were Pinkie's only food source. However, with party throwing, she found a way to give back some of that love and vitality that she took from them, and thus learned the power of friendship from a young age.

Actually, Pinkie Pie is a FOURTH WALL breaker, remember? It's given part to her from the Elements of Harmony. Because of that, she can defy things in the MLP world by going out of the show screen and pressing animation program buttons. That explains how she can teleport, she hops out of the screen and changes the frame background. If you know a little bit about animations it helps.

Ok, so this is very late coming, but that happens,... After watching thisd video, Dr. Wolf's 'the mysteries of Pinkie Pie', then a few other pony videos on similar and related topics. I came to a realization. Pie focus: Maud Pie has incredibly determined focus and can channel her strengths through it. Rocks, to Maud are in essence similar to a Zen meditative focus, as used in martial arts. She can sense or feel the rocks around her and determine a great deal about them, such as balance, composition, weak points, harmonics etc. This ability, honed into skill over her entire life, allows her to do amazing things, like shatter boulders with her hooves, throw massive slabs of stone, or simply know the composition of any given rock just by smell, all of which are demonstrated in her focus episode. This is what I'm referring to as the 'pie focus'. The entire family seems to put great effort into calm, self control and concentration, building their skills, abilities and knowledge to great effect. They are the epitome of earth ponies, as stated above, even being able to 'feel', 'sense', or 'hear' the rocks or minerals, 'speaking' to them in some sense. Not of course in terms of conversational ability, but in the amount of information inference and predictive information that can be gathered and made use of. A different form of this earth pony focus can be seen in Applejack's ability to find the right spot on a tree to kick and knock all the apples off of it at once. This would equate to being able to sense or read the harmonic resonance of a given object or material. For Applejack, it's apple trees. For Maud Pie, it's rocks. And then there's Pinkie. Pinkie Pie would outwardly seem to be the antithesis of her family's abilities, but what if she isn't? my examples are the 'pinkie sense' and the episode party of one. the pinkie sense is a minor predictive ability which, through various muscle twitches and subconscious physical reactions allows pinkie to know a few seconds ahead of time when certain things will happen. I would suggest that this is a minor physical manifestation of an ability which would be overwhelming if not kept in check. In party of one, when Pinkie couldn't spend time with her friends and distract herself with constant company and social interaction, she fell into a depression and began conversing with inanimate objects. It seemed like she actually believed the objects were talking back to her. In a sense, maybe they were. Also, look at some of the amazing abilities pinkie manifests under different forms of stress. She can run as fast as Rainbow Dash can fly. She can climb walls, momentarily levitate when falling , etc. Here's the scenario. Lets say Pinkie has the as called pie focus, to an extreme level, multiply surpassing even her twin sister Maud. Worse still, what if it's uncontrolled? It's just possible that Pinkie needs the distraction of parties, social interaction, play, hiding stockpiles and stashes of anything and everything throughout Ponyville, and anything else she can find to distract her from her extreme pie focus. She needs to be random and sketch out all over the place to keep the overload of incoming information about all the minerals in her surroundings at bay, otherwise she'll lose her grasp of reality, fall into depression, suffer hallucinations and not be able to distinguish between the information coming to her from her normal senses and that coming to her from her earth pony magic, in the form of her pie focus/pinkie sense. She has a super sensitivity to her family's speciality and even with all the distraction she can muster, the pinkie sense still manages to come through and on rare occasions even more information comes through, like her twice diagnosing twilight's interdimentional travel and activities in Equestria Girls. My analysis, Pinkie is quite likely very intimidated, even afraid to face the depth of power within her and her lack of control over it. She is, or at least could be a super hero, but a very reluctant one,.... what's your opinion? does this make any sense at all?

Woah, I love this theory! Seems legit and not far-fethced at all) Really, if she had seen a rainboom, why would she lie that she hadn't? What if... She is not the real Pinkie? Let me explain. Pinkie got her cutiemark and decided to make everyone she knows happy. But there were few ponies around the rock farm. What if one day she and probably her elder sister Maud came across a changeling and tried to make friends with him/her? They succeded, but later Pinkie died in some horrible accident, perhaps, under a huge rock that fell on her. Both Maud and that changeling blamed themselves for Pinkie's death, but then changeling decided to take Pinkie's form permanently, so her parents and younger sisters won't suffer her loss. Maybe that is why Maud is so emotionless? She blamed herself for her sister's death, and tried to persuade herself that the changeling is Pinkie. She just forced herself to feel nothing, to ease her pain, so no one will suspect the truth. She is obsessed with rocks, because that reminds her of Pinkie's death. Or Maud just decided to learn everything about rocks, so no one would be hurt - remember how she saved "Pinkie" in S4? She once lost her sister - she couldn't lose her twice. What do you think?

Try looking at the episode in which starlight changes the timeliness countless times, the changeling timeline with the true form paint that would reveal a changeling was on her, and she was normal. So instead I'd like to think that she's so in tuned with the earth, being an earth pony with her own earth pony magic, that she is self aware, and sees all her world, knows all her world, and sees at least peeks of the future. She is interdimentionally powerful.

I think she absorbs the talents of everyone she makes friends with. Rainbow dash is fast, and she is friends with her. Same with the rest of everyone. By having more friends, she has more talents, which attracts more friends, and the cycle keeps happening over and over. But she is never malicious or mean, so I think she just thinks she is outgoing and happy. And it is shown she has a home and a pet.

I came to the same conclusion but in a different way... so... does anyone know that scene where Pinkie gives the storm guard a present and then she somehow appears in it? some people might say 'oh that's just Pinkie being pinkie' yes but... no pony can teleport into a space that small... not even a unicorn. I even played back the scene to see if she just jumped through the present and... nothing! Does anyone else think that Pinkie was a changling from that? and more off, she is really fucking sensitive and gets upset easily when her friends yell at her... maybe she's scared that she might starv because she's losing her friends?

So Maud Pie aired today But I think this still works, I mean- Maud has extreme, unusual athletic abilities, like Pinkie. Jadyn Sherrod as shown in the video, she seems to have other motives If she is a spy for chrysalis. in being that she just wants love, not slavery or to rule the land like chrysalis. maybe the other ponies know pinkie is a changeling and since they have known for so long they don't really see her as a threat to them and know that pinkie has more sound morals than the changeling that they otherwise know. and since it seems that changelings are not really ever studied, especially since most out there are malevolent other than pinkie, maybe they don't know why pinkie can do the things she can because they don't know the type of magic that changelings can do. just my thoughts

Of interesting note, I suspect Changelings of being capable of transferring absorbed love energy from one Changeling to another just as I could hand a cheeseburger to a family member while at MgRonald's. Suppose Pinkie Pie isn't actually keeping most of that energy for herself, but is rather dedicating most of it to keeping her mother (Chrysalis for those who know NOTHING about social insects) and siblings alive.

I think she is half changeling and half pony. If she was a changeling she would have her changling form, which we have never seen in the episodes. It would make sense her feeding of love and friendship without knowing. For all we know, one of her parents could be a changeling. Mabey in a future episode they will find out she is half changeling.

My main head canon is that she is the only one to know that their in a show. Hence always breaking the 4th wall. The producers chose her because of her constant cheeryness making is easy to dismiss the activity as just pinky. She brings uneeded exposition in new situations when the characters should know it. She knows most of the answers or accidentally reveals them claiming to not know what she did. She knows everything about everyone. That cant be from normal interactions. To explain the super powers, studdying in her trailer, and effects.

Your theory is very true! However, I'd like to imagine that Pinkie, in the beginning, was a contraband Changeling egg. As she grew up, she lost her ties with her Changeling kin and essentially became an independent creature- a queen, essentially. Pinkie's Pinkie alright- she just isn't quite pony.

PINKIE PIE IS A SUPER PONY!- or she is part Zebra. Zebras are like earth ponies and have magic abilities. Also, as your theory may suggest, she may also be part changeling. If you remember from Ep,4 "Who is the lost Crystal Princess" ,that you made, Crystal ponies and Changelings were probably together. Just think though... Two types of ponies being in one environment? Couldn't they have mixed? And again as your theory when King Sombra was turning evil Queen Chrysalis took the changelings with her...BUT, what if they weren't JUST changelings? What if there were mixed ponies? Changeling/Ponie, it does make sense that if Chrysalis was captured and put in Tartarus, with out a Queen the Changelings disapeared and scartered, leaving some to try and make some new homes. They could of easily made new identities and soon started to...well you know. Pinkie Pie may be part changeling, but she may not even know it! She may be slowly gaining love from every single pony (with out causing damage) and not even realizing it!

Hmm...an interesting theory. There are certainly many factors that make sense, while others don't quite fit in. As much as I would love to expand on this (being quite a fan of Changelings myself), I still prefer to go with joshscorcher's motto: "It's Pinkie Pie, don't question it" :P Side note: I've only just found this channel but I'm loving these theories! :D While some are a bit odd or require some suspension of disbelief, I find the majority to be fun and interesting ideas to explore. I also like this theory cause it means that no, not only ponies can bear elements of harmony. Sure changelings look kinda like ponies, but they are clearly a different species. Also it makes for an even cooler backstory, but I think maybe in some ways, changelings can get some sort of Special Talent, just it not appearing on their flank, in which case it would still be her special talent, so she might not really be lying about it, and also cause of the amount of love she gives the ponies of ponyville, they would stay normal, but she would still be able to survive, finding the perfect balance, the perfect *harmony* between changelings and ponies, giving her the ability to bear an Element Of Harmony. And also the thought of what happened to make her abandon the changelings and start quote unquote "acting like other ponies", I love this theory now, it would be cool if they made that cannon too.

Even though I am pretty sure the writers always intended for Pinkie's abilities to be an unsolvable mystery. I can see how this theory is plausible and interesting especially at the time. However based on things the Elements of Harmony and a few other things she is pure of heart so if she was a changeling she would have been a good one with a secret but no bad intentions.

Grimdark is a style which makes things extremely depressing and violent. My Little Pony is originally a show for children. However there are fan fics about it that has intense R-rated violence. There is lots of blood, gore and insanity. The most famous example is Cupcakes. Mildly putting it, it is about Pinkie Pie killing Rainbow Dash. This corrupt Pinkie Pie is the scariest thing I have seen on the internet. She terrifies me. I do like the Pinkie Pie in the canon show, and she does help me feel better. She is peaceful, and she doesn't get scared easily. So unless you can definitely handle extreme violence and childhood destruction, I recommend you stay away from grimdark.
