As an older sister, God damn did this episode hit home. It took a totally different approach to the usual clichéd bickering siblings relationships that are portrayed in cartoons, where the older one is either a straight up antagonist, or the younger one is an annoying little brat. Sibling relationships aren't as simple as either detesting each other or being total best friends and never fighting. You aren't always friends, and you don't always like each other, but you DO always love each other.
@Voltorb199310 жыл бұрын
Yes, exactly. I have older sister and I remember our kid years pretty well. Of course we were sometimes arguing and not always really friends, but in turn, we always sticked togethe when we needed each other. When you are kid, having sybling isn't always easy and it doesn't matter if you are older or younger but under all arguing and fighting, you really love each other. For example, I remember, when I was in secondgrade and some older kids bullied me because I was small and had big glasses, she managed to get some boys from her class to talk to them and yes, scare them a bit too. and I loved her for it.

Voltorb1993 I was an older brother to two sisters. They often wouldn't get along, mostly because they had to share a room, and each wanted their own space. I recall alot of door slamming and the word 'brat' being thrown around in my teen years.And then I moved out for college, and when one of them took my room as her own, much of the negativity subsided, when they could each have their own place.Though I never did try to have a best or favorite. I always tried in some ways to comfort and support. Though there are times I do feel like I am like Rarity as much as I want to deny it: I do have a stubborn streak that does go through me.

I am SO glad that you didn't go on and on about how Rarity is an "awful sister" in this like how almost everybody else did
@CeltycSparrow6 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. Rarity is not an awful sister. Indeed, I think this episode portrayed a very realistic relationship between sisters. I am an older sister and I have always had a close relationship with my younger sister, but as in this case with Rarity and Sweetie, there HAVE been times when my sister's antics annoyed me or I needed my own space....and there were some times that things got out of hand and we fought. But I love my sister and we always make it right. From watching the show, I can see quite clearly that Rarity DOES love Sweetie Belle.
@lunarahunter487010 жыл бұрын
A lot of times I'm caught up in the story enough that I would miss hints like Rarity's blue eyes, but in this case I actually noticed in my first viewing that her eyes were blue. For a moment I thought it might be an animation error then I realized what was really going on. And to me, the fact that Rarity, as neat as she is, was willing to cover herself in mud just so she could prove to Sweetie that she could be a good sister, is really touching. Doing something she literally turned her nose up at to please Sweetiebelle was a HUGE gesture of love in my eyes.

And here I thought Squidward was the only one who could burn a drink. He burnt my shake! I enjoy stories like this too. I'm the middle child, or I was till my youngest sister was born. I have a big brother and two little sisters, and we've had our fair share of clashes, and bonding moments. This story hits home with me as well. My bro and I butted heads so often growing up that at one point when his friend was living with us, and HE was acting more like a big brother than my actual brother was, I told him that he was fired as my sibling, and his friend got the job. We've moved past that, obviously, and siblings are going to butt heads. That's just what we do. Granted, our age difference isn't as much as the sisters here, but still, being the younger brother, I was often called an annoyance and screwed things up when I was trying to help.

This is actually the first episode I watched of the show. When I watched it, my jaws were dropped at how good it was, and I was hooked and binge watched every episode up to season 6 before season 7 came up. Also, the fact that this episode position that Rarity and Sweetie Belle are in, is sometimes similar to me and my little brother. So factoring those two things in, along with the factor that I think this is still amazing episode, makes this one special to me. But even without those factors, this episode was amazing. I love the conflict that Rarity and Sweetie Belle are having in the episode. They aren't unlikable because both are justified for their reasoning and Rarity learns in the end. The emotions in the episode felt real, the humor was good, the pacing is pretty good, I like pretty much everything about this episode. There weren't any lows. Oh, and by the way for future episodes that have to do with sibling relationships I might be a little personal, but will try to have the most unbiased opinion on an episode that I can have. Keyword being try so if I get a little personal, I apologise, I just have these type of episodes make a special place in my heart if done well or this well. 5 Stars Out of 5 Stars Platinum So Far: 24/130

"Organized Chaos" is the best way to describe my _Minecraft_ houses when I'm playing on a mod-pack. They usually consist of three to four vertically-stacked rooms that, while symmetrical in design, are usually filled with machines, constructions, and chests scattered wherever I could get them to fit. 00:06:39 They do. It's confirmed by the first Equestria Girls movie. 00:06:43 Well, Apple Pie sounds like a pretty obvious pun. I wonder what other puns can be made with the character names. According to TV Tripes, when Snips and Snails kidnap Spike, the movie creates a (perhaps accidental?) stealth pun. Apparently it's a reference to an old saying. Something like "Snips, snails and a dog's tails".

Yes, the clean room helped Rarity get inspiration. But she would have gotten the inspiration at a later time anyway when she cleaned the room herself, and she still would have been able to finish the project she'd been working on with her organized chaos. So Sweetie Bell was still in the wrong. Yes, the shrunken sweater worked for the cat. But Rarity could have found a cheaper, less rare sweater for Opal and still have been able to wear the super valuable sweater for herself. Making the best out of a bad situation doesn't change the fact that the bad situation was Sweetie Bell's fault. Yes, the card Sweetie Bell made was sweet, but she still used rare items that Rarity needed for something else, and took something that didn't belong to her without asking and showed 0 remorse for doing so. Not to mention rare sewing supplies are expensive as hell, and rush orders put quite a dent in your wallet. So it was not only a big mistake, but an extremely expensive one In short, Sweetie Bell was completely in the wrong the entire episode and Rarity shouldn't have apologized at all, and especially not before Sweetie Bell did. Those are just my own thoughts on the episode, of course.

I think a lot of it comes down to 1: good intention/ignorance from Sweetie Belle, and 2. Rarity, being the older sister, has the job of being more mature and not flipping out on the younger sibling. On a side note, I personally don't think Sweetie using the diamonds would have been so awful, but why did she use ALL of them?!?

That's a Transatlantic accent. It's pretty rare to be a native speaker of it; it's almost always an artificial "stage accent", and you'll hear it a lot in old movies. Ever wonder why in black-and-white films everybody sounds vaguely British but not really, even when it's set in America? Stage accent. So the implication is that Rarity probably intentionally learned this accent to sound more posh than her native Minnesotan (Mane-esotan?), most likely to deal more comfortably with high-status clients or maybe even to get over a speech impediment.
@AnimeArchaeologist3 жыл бұрын
It started as a stage accent on TV shows made for foreign export before being adopted by the east coast upper class.

The only complain I really have with this episode is that Rarity got mad at Sweetie Belle for cleaning up the one place she DOESN'T want cleaned up. Like, seriously, how was Sweetie Belle supposed to know that was her "inspiration room"? The other things she did were justifiable, but this is really stretching it. Sweetie Belle also tries to call Rarity on her hypocrisy when she asks her to join her in the Sisterhooves Social, and again, I really hate that domineering attitude Rarity takes there. I'm totally siding with Sweetie Belle here, though again, it's not like I can't understand where Rarity is coming from. And the rest of the episode is awesome and cute, I just love it!

I can't believe Rarity was able to get a sweater on her priss of a cat. Cat's don't usually like having things on them, trust me. My dad and I got a harness for my cat and she keeps biting at the leash and resisting when I try to put it on. I do get the moral of this whole thing but I can't apply it to myself because I am an only child, still a good moral. I plan on going into cartoons and having most of the main characters have siblings, I'd say I wrote them pretty well in my comics so far even though the sibling characters have little to no dialogue. I've shown the main characters siblings a few times and I'd say I made them as realistic as possible going off of TV characters and the stories my dad told me of his brothers.

I liked this episode as well. Although I found the way AJ delivered the lecture to Rarity to be a little clumsy. Because it was about giving in and compromise yada yada. Sweetiebelle says that Applejack should teach Rarity how to be a good sister? WHAT!? THAT'S COLD! Especially since, don't hate me on this one, but I don't think Sweetiebelle is entirely innocent here. Yes, she was only trying to help her sister and wasn't trying to be malicious, but she still went through Rarity's stuff without her permission, which is something sisters shouldn't do, and also used up something for a picture that was for a very important client. Depending on the personality and/or status of the client, that could've easily landed Rarity's business in deep water, possibly causing her to loose business or worse. Also, it was Sweetiebelle who stated that "Maybe she should try her whole life without a sister!," which started the argument that led to the two deciding to not be sisters anymore. And Rarity is the only one who needs better sister lessons and Sweetiebelle was 100% in the right? No! Sweetiebelle should have as much reason to apologize to Rarity as Rarity does to apologize to Sweetiebelle. Siblinghood isn't a one way street. BOTH sides have to make an effort for the relationship to work. And seeing Rarity being the only one who has to make an effort while Sweetiebelle did nothing just really rubs me the wrong way.

Tony Con And as I said, not all or even the majority of Sibling relationships are abusive. I happen to be the oldest of 3 siblings and I have never done anything to abuse my siblings, or vice versa, so that's 1-to-1 at least on his comparison. Siblings fight and argue very frequently, but siblings beating each other and being allowed to is a sign of a family dysfunction, not "normal" sibling relationships.

Btw i checked and "twilights kingdom" was his latest review for season four finale. Perhaps he is waiting for season 5 to end to review all episodes i order. +themysteriousmrenter should do like a Q&A so we can ask him and see what he says!
