One problem with the whole "you should NEVER annoy your audience" thing is people have different opinions on what is annoying. I found the silly dialog between bigmac and cheerilee funny, a bit groan inducing but funny. But the whole "destroy us all" bit I had to skip past. It can be pretty hard to know what is going to annoy someone vs. what others will find amusing. Also I don't think it was implying they might actually be together in the end. it seemed more to me like they were having a bit of a joke at cmcs by acting like they were hence the cmc's scream of "nooo" and bigmac and cheerilee winking at each other and laughing.

I thought parts of this one were at least amusing and clever, especially that it was a love POISON that made them act like an annoying pet-naming couple. And that the two adults the kids are trying to hook up actually quite realistically laugh it off... something you rarely see now that I think about it. Though any episodes focused mainly on these three little little ponies usually bore me. I was a bit worried they would start taking over like what happens on many kids shows where the main characters are adults or teens and they introduce some REALLY young children. I think even kids hate that. Seems to not have been the case though.
@DSIgameboy10 жыл бұрын
"wait for them to go to sleep" OBJECTION! The book says that they are crazy mad in love, right? So the potion, or so I say poison, will keep them up until they die. Got any objections Mr. enter? Or anybody/pony for that matter.
@Sines3147 жыл бұрын
'Points' to this episode for making me really appreciate that "Love Potion" is just another word for "Rape Drug". I mean, I can mostly laugh because it's almost always used in humorous situations, so I'm not supposed to take it seriously. Same as I do with not taking seriously the physical harm done to victims of slapstick. Still, it is kinda messed up. I also liked one brief moment at the start. The look on Cheerilees face when the kids comment on her not having a boyfriend is great. She clearly doesn't like to be reminded of it, but she also knows it's a well-meaning question from some innocent kids, and quickly composes herself to respond to them without pushing her problems on them. It's a very good moment of characterization in just a few frames.

I enjoy this episode. The love talk didn't bother me or annoy me. This was a good attempt to make a Valentine's Day episode and a good pay-off. There's not much wrong with this episode only problems are how Twilight just gives the CMC the book and that the episode besides the fact that it's a Valentine's Day episode doesn't stand out too much. I hate this episode because of 1 scene; the ending. I often feel like parents/teachers in media are often too soft with children but this is one of the few cases I think the CMC were wrongfully punished and it really made me dislike Cheerilee. The thing is that the CMC realized that something had gone wrong by themselves, they themselves figured out what the problem was, they themselves came up with a plan to fix it and they themselves than executed that plan. I think if someone made a mistake and then fixed it all by themselves it absolves them of responsibility because they already have taken it. I think the situation is different for a deliberate action but the CMC made a mistake. If anything I would expect Cheerilee to praise them for being so responsible, not rubbing it in even further.

What I find weird about this episode is that in equestria girls cherilee is a teacher so she has to be at least in her mid-twenties or even older because she did look like she was in her late-twenties early-thirties there and big macintosh is still in highschool which means he cant be older then 18. Anybody else seeing how wrong that is. Maybe its less weird for horses but still that is a pretty big age gap especially for humans and I am guessing even more so for horses.

You want to subtract another point that you seem to have missed? Why didn't they read the whole story before making the potion/poison? OBJECTION! The baby-talk stuff may be alienating, but it alienates pretty much everyone. Even the characters in the show are, at the very least, slightly unnerved; the CMC are full-blown creeped out. As for the audience, no one can take it seriously: older fans are embarrassed by the infantile voices and dialogue; and younger viewers don't even like the opposite gender yet; and of course all viewers immediately sympathize with the main characters' reactions.
