Awsome. I do find these tricks without sleight of hand much easier. As a variation for this trick I simply add together the first two cards' values and announce the total as a prediction. This avoids getting two awkward cards at the start which need to be switched around before beginning. If they are '5' and '8', for instance, the prediction is '13'. Or I add the first four cards together for an even more stunning result, and reveal the final four cards, instead of just two. If the predicted total can also be used when dealing the two card piles - make it 13 cards to each pile for example - this is even more intriguing. I find this extended version even more unbelievable. Keep 'em coming.
@st9211 Жыл бұрын
For the awkward switching, if the first two cards are the same value, then I'm doing the matching two as predictions (so if there are two 7s, then I'll predict the other two 7s). If they are the same suit, then I'll do something similar (like if there's a 3 and 7 of clubs, then I'll predict the 3 and 7 of spades or add them together and do the 10 of clubs). If they are close together such as 3 and 4 of clubs, then I might do the Ace and 2 of clubs or 5 and 6 etc. I like your method of doing something with four or more cards as well. By varying the prediction method or number of cards involved it changes up the trick a bit each time.

This is a cool trick, for letting the spectator pick a card to identify suit and number you can do it without peaking. Remember the top card and then make note of what pile they deal the last card on when splitting into two piles. Just track it through the rest of the maneuvers and you’ll know which is on top and bottom by the time your down to two cards. Then the spectator can do the whole thing without you ever touching the cards after the start.

Pretty sure I learned this basic effect from this channel long ago, but it was much quicker and simpler. I patter it as making the spectator do a trick for ME. Them thinking THEY divined my chosen card just blows their minds and delights them. We love our MLT - to many of us, he's our Yoda, hehe.

Bro I've learned so much over the years from this channel. MLT is THE Source for hopeful card sleightists, as is AMCT. Don't worry - you'll get the pinky break and DL down - just takes practice. The delighted and disbelieving responses you get from your spectators makes it all worth while. Also, be sure to work on your controls while sitting doing nothing - false shuffles and cuts, passes and of course DL's and breaks. Sure I speak for us all when I say much love and encouragement headed your way. 👌😉👍

Thanks for the great trick MLT! I think I have a way around the peeking. You have to remember which side you left your last card after you first split the cards in 2 piles (it’ll always be the’number’). It doesn’t matter what amount you had(odd or even) then you won’t have to peek. That’ll always be your ‘number’ if you follow MLT’s method (first card is the number and second the suit. Tried it couple times, seems to work for me. Let me know what you guys think though!

This is an awesome trick that takes little effort and really wows people, even after they've seen it a number of times. The only issue I have when presenting it is if the two first cards are wrong, i.e. two of the same suit or two of the same value. Does anyone have an elegant way of getting around that? What I do is to say "the cards aren't very well shuffled, let me give it a quick cut. But sometimes that cut will yield the same result and I'll have to do it again, which looks forced. Comments welcome!
@timwiegand56226 ай бұрын
Yes, if this occurs, change the trick to still use the same 2 top cards as follows. Make a 2 card prediction instead. This can go a few ways. Say the first 2 cards are both clubs (say 5 and 8). Find the 5 and 8 of hearts and pull them as your prediction. In this case your predictions are the opposite color. Same if they are the same value (for ex 8c 8d), make a 2 card prediction that is the other 2 8s. You could even do the sum and go back to a 1 card prediction. Say 4c, 6c ... make your prediction the 10c (which is the sum). I think reshuffling looks too suspicious. plus once you reshuffle you could end up with the same condition and have to reshuffle again. Now really suspicious.

Nice trick, but I have an interesting suggestion: have you ever tried it with the prediction card being face up? There isn't actually any reason it can't be shown earlier, and that would prove you didn't switch it with another card. Obviously some tricks need to have the prediction sealed, but in this case, it isn't actually necessary. Maybe it provides dramatic effect, but at the cost of being able to prove that you really did make the prediction at the beginning.
@MMAFightMagazine2 жыл бұрын
Why do you say that? I see plenty of reasons why it shouldn't be shown earlier. For starters, how could he possibly have changed the prediction card? He couldn't, he never touches it. So right off the bat, showing the prediction provides only negative results and takes away from the illusion. Most importantly however is what he's talking about at 9:36 It would look terrible if one is already looking at what the prediction card is, while the magician is "deciding" whether your choice of "suit or value" should reference the top or bottom card. No?
@joshuamusikantow25522 жыл бұрын
@@MMAFightMagazine I disagree. I mean, we already know the magician saw the prediction card, so revealing it doesn't give him any information he doesn't already have, it only gives the spectator more information. There are many ways to switch a prediction card, even if it stays in plain sight the whole time.. See "Mexican Turnover" for a classic example. For the magicians choice bit, you could have the 2 cards face down on the table, as long as you can remember which is which, and have him turn it over without looking.
@johnandronaco6127 Жыл бұрын
@@joshuamusikantow2552 Another way to keep it "honest" is to have the spectator put the card in his pocket. No ability to switch.
@AlbertHardyJr2 жыл бұрын
I'm confused. Do you look at the top cards and find your prediction card in view of the spectator? Is that why you call it a "No Setup" trick?
