His technique and creativity are impressive! Demonstrates years of experience with 2D and 3D art and total mastery of the tools. I have a deep admiration for you that takes fantasy impressionism and creation to new limits. I'm following your channel and I see that it will soon explode into views. Greetings from Brazil.

This is awesome. I love how fast you make your decisions. How are you getting those passes out so quickly? Are you simply saving them one by one, then opening them in photoshop later? Or are you using another technique to export out each rendered pass?

As a game designer. The problem with this Zbrush and similar programs is that they are literally monster generators. And when things are made in the monster generator, everything comes out looking like it was made in the monster generator.

@@micadaniels2130 Blender is only a tool. Whether MLW Creative would have done this model in Blender or in this case, Zbrush, the technique is the same. Study how he sculpts and apply those techniques in Blender. I started sculpting in Blender way back in 2.7x (so long ago) and I know for a fact, other than the differences between both tools, I can sculpt just as well in Zbrush. Blender is perfect to learn the basics of sculpting, sculpting miniatures, stylized characters, etc. So 1)learn the tool 2)learn how to sculpt basic stuff 3)Go nuts and have fun!. Learn from MLW Creative's technique and apply it to Blender.

@@jpmothman very well, and do you have to be good at drawing in general to be good at sculpting? Cuz what can one refer to in order to even have an idea and 2. if it’s a hard sort of sculpture and shape to draw is there a technique to break it down step by step in order to draw it much easier? Is there a name for such a technique when things become advanced/difficult assuming drawing on a paper vs. sculpting on a computer vs. 3D modeling on a computer screen all use the same principles...
@jpmothman
@jpmothman 3 жыл бұрын
@@BlakeTedKord I'm not sure I understand what you mean by your question but... Drawing on paper or computer (concept art, comic art, storyboards, etc) all have their own techniques and "requirements" so does sculpting (Miniatures, Game Models, Movies, etc). You won't find the same knowledge requirements if you draw concept art vs comic art. You aren't required to be a good concept art to be a comic artist but you must be good at drawing for both disciplines. You have to know how to draw the stuff you need to draw. You don't have to be a concept artist to be a 3d modeler or sculptor. Having knowledge of how concept art is made and how concept artists get from the initial idea to the finished piece has value for a sculptor. A concept artist that understands the fundamentals of sculpting in 3d or traditionally will certainly help them make decisions when concepting something. We are artists. We must not stagnate in our art. So it is invaluable for a sculptor to learn the basics of drawing, but it's not a requirement/obligation. You don't have to know how to draw to be a miniature sculptor but it helps... a lot. You learn quite a bit by studying other artistic disciplines. In order to draw/sculpt, you have to learn how things work. Whether they are mechanical or organic. If you work on organic figures, such as the monster in this video, you have to know anatomy, what fish look like, what underwater armor would look like, etc. All of this can be found in concept art or reference images on the web but there's a difference between using ref (drawing what you see) and knowing how to use it (find inspiration from) and to translate it into a sculpt or drawing. You can learn techniques by watching sculpting videos and see how the artist breaks down form then refines. There are tons of resources on the web to help guide you when it comes to technique. Then there's putting in the hours. My point is this: No matter which discipline tickles your fancy, medium or your preferred project to work on, you have to put in the hours and learn as much as you can about the work you want to accomplish. Don't stop learning so that you get better in the art that you want to do. The more you put in the hours + everything you've learned, there won't be much you won't be able to do. You'll grow in confidence and when things become advanced/difficult, you'll be able to resolve the problem. ..... Hope this answers some questions you might have.
