Love a good old-fashioned dungeon crawl. Weaving "loyally less" into what we already know of the place...this temple is where a heretical offshoot of Devona's faithful set up shop. They consecrated the place with the blood of their former 'brethren', people who they feel betrayed them, as they splintered off into their own faction. The traps were set in place to safeguard the priesthood that would remain inside as living sacrifices for the remainder of their days (mmm, frog legs...).

oooh it's sooo cool that you're using Location Crafter in this one. I'v used it for a few games I've run and I really really love, especially when you roll Special or Random...really love those tables. I can definitely recommend Advnture Crafter too. That would be good to kick off a scene where you're not 100% sure what will happen. You basically make a few rolls based on the nature of the adventure and it helps adds some encounters and location detail into the scene to help describe things. A bit like Location Crafter but more detailed and more specific. Anyway, great episode. Love the intro of a new NPC. Hope we get to learn more about him in future. Awesome stuff. Thanks so much :)

Its interesting what different minds come up with. To me Loyalty Less immediately put into my mind the idea that this was a castle that rebelled against a power and so was blown to smithereens and the horror of that infused it with weird paranormal magic. Now that we know more about the temple you could retroactively show Loyalty Less to mean that the priests in this temple were doing something or other that Devona didn't like. Maybe there was a mutiny/attack where the people of her good aligned counterpart that stopped the wave with Simon decided that was better, (hence the slaughter in their Vestry), and Devona drowned them all to stop them getting to her "Heart" and Edbert sees the signs of that that he missed before without the context of the place.

I thought "loyally less" could refer to a powerful person willingly serving someone/something. In this context maybe a statue or mural of someone swearing fealty. Could be a trap, a secret passage, or a piece of a puzzle... Thank you for teaching our brains how to figure it out!
@andromada3692 жыл бұрын
I have an Idea for "loyally less". Since this was a great temple/cathedral that was at the center of, what we assume is a, divine cataclysm, I think there was a heritic or some kind of traitor among the clergy. It's possible this heritic/traitor was defiling the cathedral bit by bit and no one else either noticed are didn't care. This garnered Devona's wrath destorying the cathedral in a flood and eventually the entire island turning it into the swamp it is today. And what Edbert sees in that intersection are signs of that desicration.
@psyfi54282 жыл бұрын
"Loyally Less" could be something that makes Edbert have "less" loyalty. In whom? The lizardfolk who sent him there! Maybe ancient carvings on the walls depicting lizardfolk brutalizing human prisoners. Doesn't necessary mean that his lizardy friends are actually evil, but it would leave open the possibility that something is up ...
@psyfi54282 жыл бұрын
And this suggests that MAYBE the item Edbert is supposed to retrieve helps them exert control over the humans nearby. They used to frequent the temple until that mysterious coldness drove them out, leaving behind the weapon they now desire.
@MeMyselfandDieRPG2 жыл бұрын
Well, we'll never know, because it didn't register anything to me in the moment, and that's all that counts. That's the beauty of the Mythic system - everyone will have their own interpretations :)

currently up to 31:00 in this ep. my thoughts at the moment are that this whole complex was primarily a place for the temple of Devona, but also perhaps part of a settlement. the temple was attacked and the priests and priestesses slaughtered. Devona enraged made the underground river surge and flood the island, which did of course lead to the center of the ruins sinking into the ground to some extent and the towers fell in towards the center. the island became a swamp. maybe it had been followers of that male sea god who did this? that would explain why followers of Devona would want to destroy them and their town yeah?

Amazing, thrilling episode, Pasqual is amazingly portrayed, and I love how we are gradually introduced to the world. Now we know Carlos also comes from Tical Dandala! Quick GM question: at 39:28, what made you give Edbert a +1 to his persuasion roll? Since Pasqual wanted to leave, I would have thought it would be harder to persuade him, not easier. (I think I would have liked to hear some splashing sounds when Edbert was walking in ankle-deep water, it would have helped me with the immersion, but the music and your voices are amazing and it was super exciting to discover the ruins together with you!)

Start broad, either a city, a village, a place, a person, name it, really important, as it will make it a bit yours... Dress it, purpose, location, trade, wills, disadvantages... After you have a loose sketch.. wonder yourself... Why is here ? What cover its needs ? What is specific about it? What could menace or make it struggle its way of life ? Are the neighbours allies, similar, adversaries, enemies ? Or, the way you watch it as a soloist, start with one, a loose past, a motivation, a personality, a loose frame of the world that character live. I assure that playing with it, it will come new information that your brain will try to attach to that loose information, as our brain is prepared and excels on follow and search for patterns. At first it will be usual tropes, but at some point you will personalize features based on the logic of the world you came to fill bit by bit.
