A well-made episode, good job! this is definitely a more sustainable way to live, and certainly a more enjoyable way too! One key difference about the old timber houses in Japan, versus the concrete buildings that we are used to, while the former could get damaged due to all sorts of things, they can be repaired, for instance, if timber works start to rot, they can be repaired by replacing that particular part, and as long as good maintenance is carried out, they can last for a few more hundred years. But for concrete buildings, the expected lifespan is around 70 years, and even if you do repair regularly, the performance of the building will simply continue to decline until it becomes beyond repair.
