Lena, i would love to know your thoughts on how Iceland compares to Russia in terms of the weather and friendliness of the people

Hi~ Thanks for asking! To be honest, the weather in Iceland is not considered to be that cold for the Russian standard coz in many places we have even colder winters. Fun fact, the coldest inhabited place is in Russia, it’s called Oymyakon, there -50 C is a normal winter temperature. I’m from Vladivostok, and for us -20 C is considered very cold. On the other hand, Iceland is for sure way more windy, which makes you feel colder than the actual temperature outside! In terms of people, I can’t say much about Icelanders because we didn’t have a chance to talk to many people but they left a good impression on me, they are very nice and friendly. I think if you visit Russia, people may appear to look more serious and even angry haha, but if you get to know them more, they are very helpful and friendly! We don’t have a culture of smiling to make others like you, we only do it when it comes from the heart. And I think we’re more social! At the same time, life in Russia is much harder and more challenging than in Iceland, so it also adds up to overall pessimism in society… in Iceland people look much happier!
