@@robinreiley1828 That's nonsense. You can't be a martial artist without fighting. The "martial" part in martial art refers specifically to fighting. If all you do is flail your arms and legs into empty air and quote deep sayings, you can call yourself a philosopher, a poet, a dancer, an artist, a pacifist, etc. You're as much a martial artist as you are a doctor for watching House MD, Scrubs and Grey's Anatomy. The whole point of martial arts is for the specific times when fighting cannot be avoided, so you better be good at it and give yourself the best possible chance to win.

Ba gua is the usual other style. And Tai Chi is capable of being used as a martial art. I incorporate it, Kung Fu, American karate, and ba gua to create an effective defense. The problem is when someone claims to have learned the martial applications of Tai Chi when they so obviously haven't. Every one of the people in the video showed a distinct lack of basic fundamentals and no upper and lower body coordination. Best example is against the kickboxer. The Tai Chi fighter never tries to turn him or bring him out of center alignment, a typical move against an aggressive opponent that would leave them open to a counterattack. I'm of two minds about these videos so far. I may comment again later.

Tai Chi is a brutal martial art, the issue is they don't train for fights. There's lots of amazing strikes and grappling techniques but jf you just practice form and rub each others arms (push hands) you'll never be able to fight. I honestly think the martial art of Tai Chi has been lost to time, the only situations where it's used effectively now are when it's used in combination with other more agressive styles of Kung Fu, and with full contact sparring. It's a shame really, tends to be an issue across most Kung Fu nowadays

I honestly don’t think the tai chi dude had ever been punched in the face up until that point. That’s the reaction of someone who didn’t expect it to stun so bad

There was a guy in my neighborhood that couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag. One day he just started fighting anyone who would accept the challenge. After losing about 8 fights and getting knocked out 2 times he started winning. Dude had heart and he took a bunch of L's for him to get good enough win most of his fights. Practice makes perfect.

The guy fighting the bare-chested MMA fighter could probably become a great fighter if he trained in anything real. As it is, he still managed to kind of hold his own for a spell which is way more than 99.9% of all "masters" can accomplish. Of course, he won't get anywhere if he keeps this stupidity up but I think this is the first time I actually saw potential in one of these fake martial artists.

That’s just what I thought. He committed to Tai Chi and so could only slap weakly and wave his hands around a lot, but even against a pretty novice seeming fighter he managed to use Tai Chi to sidestep a punch and slap him in the chest. Sure it’s useless but yeah potential

So, the attacker needs to give you permission to hurt him? The only "art" I envision here is the "master" looking like a piece of modern art laying on the ground after the attacker gets through with him.

"Theoretically..." Lol! That word used in several of these is the word that should tell you, "This will not work in an actual real life scenerio." Theories are things that have not been proven. Let me put it this way, theoretically, any punch or kick can knock down an apartment complex entirely. LOL! I cracked up every time they said that.

Yeah man … tia chi is more about getting so good at it that you can incorporate the fluidity of it in an actual fighting style…it’s like the same reason some people took ballet to improve their on their actual main thing…whatever that may be…being loose and having balance is really the the main point..
@WarrenKirkpatrick3 жыл бұрын
To be able to effectively use these martial arts, your reaction speed would have to be abnormal,that’s literally the only way to do it, otherwise, like it’s being shown, these guys get mauled to bits.

To find a worthy martial arts master it's a wise decision to challenge the master to a fight, and if he/she wins then do training with that master, until you can defeat him/her. This video was a good start for this new year. Happy new year! I wish you the best, and I hope you'll get more subscribers to your channel than you expected. Take care.
