The intro........with Angle and Flair's WOO! off instantly made me realise why these two submissions are against one another. As I was originally thinking the Figure 4 Leg Lock should go against the TJP Clutch because it's basically the same move with the only difference being one move is when the opponent is down back first and one is when the opponent is down face first (basically an inverted Figure 4 Leg Lock). But, that WOO! off made me realise that this is the better match.

I've hit the Figure 4 in rolls. Focus on it as a kneebar, with the opponent's crossed over leg running over their other patella, then crunch in on it, keeping that leg outstretched and pulling down on the crossed over leg.

The worst part about a figure four is whether is put in correctly or incorrectly, it still fucking hurts. The correct way to to put the opponent’s ankle on top of their patella and essentially remove their kneecap. If done incorrectly, then it’s shin on ankle bone and still is horrific.
@dorkangel10763 жыл бұрын
Oooh, first one of these I've disagreed with. The ankle lock has a lot more setups than the figure four. Any rolling leg move can transition into the ankle lock. In the clip even, blocking a stunner setup. The also have the option to scissor the leg and drop down for that extra pop. Figure Four only really starts with the guy lying on his back and once you go through the theatrics, that's it (though he could "Woooo" while cranking it). I didn't follow Flairs earlier career but late career he didn't even win with it that often, partly because he was often heel so faces only really tapped if they'd been injured first. The Figure Four was often countered by simply rolling over onto your front which allegedly "reversed the pressure" meaning you were basically caught by your own move. In reality this was bollox though so I don't know if that counts. Are you judging reality or wrestling reality? 😉

It depends on the pro wrestling organizations. Some may give you more time off. Like I think AEW pro wrestlers just have to work 2-3 days a weeks. And they could wrestle for other organizations WITH PERMISSIONS. Or even do MMA. Maybe even do submission grappling/catch wrestling on the side.

There are many organizations where you could learn catch or something similar to it. Like scientificwrestling.com. They list on it names of certified assistant coaches(kind of like black belt) or certified coaches(kind of like grand master), Snake Pit USA(with similar certification), the ORIGINAL SNAKE PIT WIGAN, etc. Snake Pit Wigan is run by Roy Wood the LAST SURVIVING STUDENT OF BILLY RILLY. Or even learn luta livre. Which is a brazilian form of catch(but mixed with some judo). While Brazilian jiujutsu is judo mixed with catch.
@tichtran6643 жыл бұрын
Or learn Combat Submission Wrestling . It is a martial art based on catch. Since Erik Paulson studied catch under japanese pro wrestlers as well as billy robinson. Or even learn pro wrestling. Since pro wrestling is , minus the strikes and high flying moves, basically a staged form of catch. Shayna Baszler on her own youtube channel(Baez) said on the comment section in a article of whether the Askren vs Paul fight was a work: That she trained with both Josh Bartnett and Billy Robinson on both catch wrestling and pro wrestling. And she didn't learn any major difference in technique for the two grappling forms. Maybe with the exception of the striking and high flying pro wrestling moves.
