Mr Knarf yeah 35 squats is actually easy.55 pushups on the other hand seems unimaginable with chest touching the ground and with a reasonable pace.

.......standard is number of push ups in 2 minutes. The army pt test for someone 17-21 years old the minimum is 42 push ups in 2 minutes. To max the test, 71 is required. To be a competitive fighter, you should be able to do at least 100 pushups and sit ups as well as 100 squats in my opinion

Rope skipping is a learned skill. Make sure you do NOT use it as a cardio exercise when you begin! This is absolutely one of the exercises you want to be practicing before you go into a gym. Once you have a certain level of proficiency, you can start adding tricks and use it as a cardio workout. Glad to see that hammered in the video, but here it is again in the comments just in case you missed it.

Never really tried to jump rope before, Usually replace it with a hybrid plyo squat thrust burpee for maximum leg activation with ballistic movement. Great for takedown shots. Anyhoo, jumping rope was never something I figured out as a child. Jumping rope is right up there with learning how to swim, and to dispose of the weight of guilt. Lol. So I will definitely give jumping rope a try! Its good to learn new things

Flexibility is the oddest thing. I've been training martial arts on regular basis (4-5 times a week) since I was 6 but I cannot stretch for shit. After I put way more emphasis on it for the past 3yrs I noticed some slight improvement but it's still subpar...But as long as it does not hinder my performance I am okay with it.

I'd say it depends on your weight class. A welterweight needs to be more agile than a heavyweight while a heavyweight must have more strength than a welterweight. But that test is pretty good, even though my running endurance sucks while I can punch for what feels like hours

Eh, I don't believe this. The gym I go to didn't mind that I was completely out of shape when I started a little over a year ago, I was 260 ish. Because I said "should I do some workouts at my house before joining" and the owner looked right at me kind of serious, yet friendly and said "why do workouts to get in shape before coming to a place where you're going to get in shape, just jump into it man. No shame in weight, we don't judge, just do your best". I started the next day, no one judged or laughed at me. Here I am a year and ehh 3 months later, down to 165 eating a TON better and only drinking water, working out on my own, jogging and gym(muay thai, bjj, and boxing, weights). Just by jumping straight into it. So on this subject, I disagree with you Shane, no offense. Anyone overweight wanting to join any sort of gym, I say go for it and I'm more than happy for you to tell me how it goes! Good luck everyone starting their new journeys, and those that are furthering theirs!

You and your coach do have a point, but if I only trained at the gym/dojo, I wouldn't have made the gains that I have made thus far. Martial arts begins in the training room, what ever you would call it, and continues beyond its walls.

The FitnessGram™ Pacer Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The 20 meter pacer test will begin in 30 seconds. Line up at the start. The running speed starts slowly, but gets faster each minute after you hear this signal. [beep] A single lap should be completed each time you hear this sound. [ding] Remember to run in a straight line, and run as long as possible. The second time you fail to complete a lap before the sound, your test is over. The test will begin on the word start. On your mark, get ready, start.

Hey if I can do a medium range at my age- 14- am I in good shape, or should I train a little more. I have a good background in kyokushin and kickboxing, and wanted to join the ufc gym, but don't know if I should with the results.

At 14 I was doing 30 pull ups a set, you should be an unstoppable force at that age in calisthenics

I can do the pushup easy, never learned rope but I have one and I will cuz I learn quick, running I hate but I know I can do it, sit up easy, I'm really bad at flexibility tho.

Hey shane, i have a little problem, i can do very hard exercises, i can do pullups with weights, muscle-ups one leg squats and other of the hardest calistenics exercise but when it comes to cardio i'm very crap, i train like 7 times per week, 3 conditioning exercises and 4 martial arts training(pretty challenging on cardio). but i still struggle a lot with cardio, this summer i trained 5-6 days a week and after every training i ran 1km in a very bad time(like a little under 5 minutes) and i gased out, never could ran more than 1 km. I mention im 21y old and i have a decent diet(a lot of proteins, low carbs, no junk food or soda etc.). Any ideea why?

I could do all of these except for push-ups. I dont know why I am so bad at those. There was a time when I could do 50 with not too much effort. Now Im barely doing 25 even though I kept my training up 4 years now. After one break of like a month my push-ups were nothing. I dont get it. Since then 2 years have passed I think.

Your lungs are probably black as fuck right now if you've been smoking for over 4 years, that's going to have a heavy impact on your cardio.
