I love the positive attitude about losing a fight that Dustin has now. If he gives it everything he has "not partying and drinking", and trains as hard as he can and he still loses - it's just not meant to be. "This is MY story. If it's meant for me, it won't miss me." VERY healthy outlook! Also, him explaining how he writes down what he's grateful for everyday. Love this dude...not only for his fighting style but for always being honest and allowing people to see his vulnerable side. High character...and me being born and bread in South Louisiana - I am biased. Great interview. Hope to see him fight again, but respect whatever decision he ultimately makes.

It was a very competitive fight against the current p4p king, poirier had a great performance but still Islam was dominating the fight (striking, wrestling, grappling) arguably won every round until the 5th, officially two judges had it 3-1 Islam so it wasn't close. But yeah khabib knew Poirier was a very dangerous and worthly opponent for Islam that's why he dame back to corner him. After the fight khabib posted on his Instagram story a highlight with the title (one of my favourite fighter of all time) and it was poirier koing conor. Khabib always saw poirier as a honorable man and respects him a lot.

I still find it amazing that Islam beat a guy who was fighting for everything. When you’re just a champ making another title defense, and the guy you’re fighting sees you as the manifestation of everything standing between him and his legacy, a lifetime of fulfillment, and the key to his ultimate goal and dream in life, who knows it’s his last shot- and you STILL finish him, that’s cold. Islam’s such a killer for that. The emotional aspect of that victory is really impressive. It’s like going against a guy your size in arm wrestling, if you lose you lose $100, but if he loses his mom dies, and you still win. Just flat out better no matter how lopsided the stakes are

Sometimes you have to keep in perspective that you don't know what would have happened if you achieved the level of success you wanted. Maybe you win the big game, get all the gold and glory, 10x everyone else's level..But maybe that path although successful would have more tragedy. Kobe Bryant won it all but his success put him in a doomed helicopter with his daughter, taking them both much too young. Count your blessings and be where you are now. Be here now.

Definitely agree. Dustin deserves the promotion. He said it himself, he's been cutting his teeth in UFC since like 2011, Dana should be more than willing to promote a boxing fight if he wants one. I do think that he should have the same contract as Diaz where he's still on contract but can box a select few names so that way he doesn't need up boxing Jake Paul, as much as I'd love to see it, he doesn't need to tarnish his name for that fight.

hes clouded by hype since he was in attendance at 303. Jones Alex is a gimmick fight. A win in an undeserved rematch with Jiri does not warrant ducking his true contender Magomed, and skipping over Stipe and a Unification bout with the Interim Champ. Alex himself admits this. On his channel in his most recent video he states it is nonsensical to challenge Tom for the Interim, or to expect to jump Tom and fight Jones. His place is at LHW and Magomed is the contender. These are Alex's words, and he is correct. There is a clear path for the HW division with a Unification bout between the Champ & Interim Champ.

Dustin, I met you at the UFC gym in June 2015 in new orleans LA.. we took a picture and you and Mike brown signed my boxing gloves, this was right before you fought and finished Yancy Mediros.. you are in my top 3 active fighters to watch and in my top 15 of all time to watch, big fan.. you are a legend, role model, and inspiration for all men and if you ever open up a business in new orleans/Metairie area my girlfriend and I would love to work for you..

Nobody ever thought Dustin would be anything more than a journyman after Conor beat him back in the day, but lo and behold, he not only became a champ (interm counts), but went on to also beat Conor (twice, or 1.5 times technically) and become a fan favorite. It helps that he also seems like a genuinely good guy. Good for him!

He did not become a champ . But hell yh he’s a legendary fighter

@@seanseany6481 He became an interm champ, and that counts

Stop with this john v alex.. its Tom v john next, Tom's the interim champ so john HAS to fight him next or retire and give Tom the belt 😤

By the official rules once Jon the current champion steps the octagon again then Tom is immediately removed from his interim title status as the champion is now back. The ufc most likely won’t strip Tom for marketing purposes but interesting enough that’s how it works and this has never happened before.

Tom who? It's Stipe vs Jon
@mattybanks16246 ай бұрын
@beatsbyash no when John and Stripe got delayed they made Tom interim so it was set in stone he would fight the winner interim v champ
@mattybanks16246 ай бұрын
@ohno316 yes I no Tom fights the winner as the interim

Agreed. When he totally recited from memory the 2011 card when Dustin fought on FB prelims. Wild!

ngl i used to not like ariel just seemed like the adam22 of mma in his earlier years but for a long time now ive realized he does actually care about this sport and how it’s perceived and how much he supports it and the fighters he’s definitely genuine i didnt believe it at first

@ghhhp don't let him fool you bro. Ariel is great at his job but he is still and always was a wheesel. "Caring for the fighters" is his way to make them cooperative, come to his show and even better go aginst the ufc
