Thank you for building this very beautiful stand and posting the video. You are a very accomplished woodworker. I need a wide screen tv stand and have been looking to purchase one. Unfortunately, everything I have found is cheaply built or is too modern looking for my tastes. I have all the tools required to build your stand and will give it a shot. Unfortunately, I know that what you have made look so easy requires a lot of skill! A concern I also have is that currently decent lumber is very scarce so wish me luck as I tackle this task. Thanks again..

Thanks Bigfish! Everything in this is just pine framing lumber, nothing fancy like oak/ash/walnut/etc. Just try to find boards that aren't bowed or warped and you'll be good to go! Good luck with your build, and thanks for stopping by and commenting!

@@mmcc_woodshop6288 I completed and moved my unit into the house today. Toughest critic, my wife, loves it and thinks I did an "awesome job." I know others have requested detailed plans in their responses but honestly I found the details you provided in the video to be sufficient. Thanks again so very much!

You can do everything here for under $100 worth of tools: speed square, skillsaw, drill, wood glue. Clamps can be expensive, but there are alternatives or harbor freight.

You’re brave for wearing a white sweater while staining the wood haha. Also where can you get the blocks for putting in the slots? I can’t seem to find them.

It was an old shirt haha! I made the ones I used in this video. Try searching wooden buttons for table tops and see if you can find anything. They’re not too hard to make!

Just an observation, not a judgement or criticism. I noticed you don't use pocket hole screws in any of your builds. At least not the videos I've watched. Is there any concern that the regular screws won't be as secure as pocket hole screws. Obviously this is a significant cost savings and I've wondered in the past about it. Seems that your projects are solid and sturdy. Great channel by the way. Keep up the great work.
@mmcc_woodshop6288
@mmcc_woodshop6288 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Greg, thanks for the feedback! Personally, I have never had an issue using regular screws. As long as you don't oversink the screws and tear through whats left of the apron (where the hole is) you should be fine. Also a little glue on the joint will help. Just me $0.02 but I've never ran into a problem!

Hello I love the vdo & your finished project. My hubby says he does not see what or where are the 2x 12 x 12 if you could please put somewhere an entire listing of measurements of all materials my hubby is not seeing your measurements the same.
@mmcc_woodshop6288
@mmcc_woodshop6288 4 жыл бұрын
I actually didn't have the measurements laid out, but the 2x12x12 is the top piece (cut in half) - it's cut into two 2x12x64" sections, and then glued together (4:00 - 4:30 in the video). The 6 legs are ~26.75" tall, the sections that hold the legs together (0:07 - 0:09 in the video) are about 16.5" long, and the support frame pieces (0:45 - 0:55) are about 27 1/8" long (they're 2x4 boards ripped in half). The appearance board is the shelves (2:55), and the x's are cut from 2x4 scrap ripped in half (no idea on the dimensions). I never really draw any dimensions out, but rather plan the size of the top and then just build it as I go planning for ~ 0.5" - 0.75" overhang on all the sides. (Usually I build the top first and then build the table upside down based off the top). I planed all the lumber I used in this to square everything up, the measurements will likely not be exact, but you can adjust slightly if needed 👍🏻

Hey Ive watched this video at least 5 times and I think I'm about ready to tackle it lol. One question, why did you leave the bottom shelf short, rather than all the way out to the edge and have the 2x2 X sit on top? Just curious
@mmcc_woodshop6288
@mmcc_woodshop6288 2 жыл бұрын
Nice! Give it a go! I don’t remember 100% but I either cut both shelves to length before putting them in (so the measurements were the same), or the boards I was using weren’t long enough. You could definitely extend it out all the way and get a similar looking result 👍🏻

Thanks! I can take usually something this big from the bare lumber to ready for paint/stain in 2 days if everything goes smoothly. There's for sure a lot of time behind the scenes getting the lumber, planing/ripping/milling, etc. I like to let the stain sit for at least 48hrs before clear coating, so overall between 5-7 days if I don't get distracted haha 👍🏼👍🏼

How many inches off the ground is the bottom shelf, and what router bit did you use to attach the table top ?
@mmcc_woodshop6288
@mmcc_woodshop6288 3 жыл бұрын
The top is 1.5"(I used a scrap 2x4 to measure the spacing - the 2x4 is 2x4" wide) off the ground, and the router bit is a 1/2" straight bit.

@@mmcc_woodshop6288 Thanks for responding...are you sure about the shelving boards ( middle and bottom) being used as 1x10’s ? I would think you would need 1x12’s ? Same as the top. 1x10’s are actually 9.25. times that by 2 you get 18.5... in my mind the shelf width would be to short ?
@mmcc_woodshop6288
@mmcc_woodshop6288 3 жыл бұрын
@@Mark-oj7yt Yep, you're correct - that's a typo on my part. They were 12" boards ripped to 10.125" each, then joined together to fit the width of the frame (17.25" + 1.5" + 1.5"). I'll fix the typo, thanks for pointing that out!
