I sat in one of these at a arcade in Universal Studios and it was shocking how well it simulated acceleration, braking, and turning G's My driving skill on the game was exceptionally good for a 1st timer. I was really speechless when I got out of it, I should of been hitting walls and over speeding into corners with a new sim, but this made a night and day difference. Just need to turn off the room lights, you really don't want to see the outside world when using this setup, wonder how it would work with VR.

I was thinking the same myself for flight, which evidently I suck at for an FPS player. Tried Eve Valkyrie VR, I don’t really even get the options and what’s what. That aside, I don’t think cats are meant to tilt so easily the way that rig is tilting sideways, forwards and backwards. That thing just looks scary and a tad dangerous.

It's to simulate the G forces of turning, not leaning. It's simulated through leaning though, think about if you were fully 90 degrees tipped to the side you would have one G to the side. It's the same principle as leaning forwards and backwards for acceleration and de-acceleration.

Is the leaning of this rig honesty necessary if it’s a car simulator, though? I could understand if it were motorcycles and should have handles instead of the wheel. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I don’t believe even race cars are meant to tilt around corners.

That is exactly the force generated here by moving forward a lot. And, as you can see, your eyes don't experience the move forward, because the monitor shows the same scenery and moves together with your body and eyes. You only experience the force that pulls your body forward from the seat. Exactly like in the real car.

@@DaveGX i think you dont understand well that when you move around with your car, g forces are changing (that make you feel heavier in some cases). When tilting the simulator, you basically allow the gravity to hit your body from a different angle, which leads to recreate this same g force effect. But you really have to try it to see how well it’s done

It's not. If you look, the car leans in the opposite direction that he steers which is what they do... airplanes lean in the same direction that they are turning. Then the up and down motions are for braking, hills, and terrain.
