@@mariacebrecos303 I think Omer was correct for using was since he was using a conditional statement to assert a personal belief or fact. On the other hand , if he said, " I wish Emma were my English and Literature teacher.....etc" It showed a wishful thinking or an unreal dreaming that was totally unrealistic, then were should fit right in.

I've just finished an amazing book "Underground Railroad" written by a American writer Colson Whitehead, Pulitzer price, which describes with such strength and reality the life of a young slave working in an plantation who achieved to escape through the secret and Underground Railroad built by the people against slavery and leading the fugitives to freedom. Thanks Emma for your everlasting contribution to our best use of e nglish.

I second what the teacher said , I learned English and French on my own and I did exactly what’s being advised on this video, listening , reading, conversations with myself, more specifically shower conversations and shadowing ( listening to something and repeating it out loud ) language exchange apps , switching my phone to the target language and all of that good stuff, the awesomeness of learning languages is that you actually learn how to learn and the process becomes less and less tedious as you gain in experience. I’m lucky I’ve lived in the US 🇺🇸 for over 20 years so my English level went from beginner to advanced very quickly and without much effort, as far as French goes, it’s been three amusing years and by applying the techniques mentioned here my level has been gradually improving i went from just being able to say basic things to having full blown conversations with natives, read books, watch Netflix series. Bottom line: if you really want to make quick progress you need to create this sort of immersion like if you were living in the country where your target language is spoken. Edit: do not search for perfection, language learning is a never ending processes and there will always be new things to learn, let alone the fact languages are continuously evolving…

Great ideas. I am very attentive when listening to songs, audiobooks, videos, etc so I pick up on new words or words that I mispronounce constantly. I make music so writing lyrics and singing/rapping also improves my pronunciation and intelligibility.

@@DaveSmith90559 yep. Sometimes it’s hard. Coz the languages of Asian countries like Chinese ‘n’ Japanese is as same as with its format of the sentences. These languages haven’t letters. They have characters. When writing characters we have to follow a stroke order. But learning French is easier than Chinese. Coz the sentence format of French is as same as English format. When learning a new language, we have to translate paragraphs into English or into the language which I learn. Translating a Chinese paragraph is easy into my native language. Because we are all in Asian countries and somehow our writing system is bit same . But I always try to translate a language paragraph into English. I love learning English. As I know, here In Sri Lanka, we have a lot opportunities to have a well paid job if we’re fluent in English language.

It’s the best video to plan my study schedule. I didn’t spend only few time to practice pronunciation. But from now, I try to create a time for pronunciation as my new habit. Thank you so much.

Hi Emma ! My daily habitus at the moment are the following : in the morning, after the breakfast I read at least a couple of pages of an English book . Then , for a while I listen to a BBC radio station and also every day I watch and listen to a high amount of English videos on KZbin. Different kinds of video of my interest. What I don't do is writing . I know it's important though. I'll add writing as my habits too . If not every day but at least once a week . I'm thinking about doing more long and complex writing which would be fine I guess . You're always wonderful ! Thank you very much ! ❤

Well Emma I had diveloped my own rutine and I will share it with you. But first of all I am an Spanish speaker and your lessons had been quite helpful for me. Well, my method is named WRW W- is warm R- for running and W- instead of walking. I first warm watching new content as your videos, then I write what I learned about it whish is my marathon, I usually run memorizing what I already warmed and finaly I walk, at this point I pick up a topic which I am comfortable with. It's like walking with my own feet because I can walk as well I can rehearse. Keep going Emma you are a badass!!!! Thanks for your style and charisma.
